Just to echo others words and thoughts about the help and support. I have been on MSE for ages but only stumbled on this thread at the beginning of the year, it then took me a while to get the courage up to post.

I was feeling very down - I was made redundant May last year, husband lost one of his jobs (he was doing 2 pt jobs as had been made redundant himself) the month later etc. I was lucky and managed to get a pt job middle of the year but my income alone reduced by 2/3rds and we have struggled.

Finding this thread motivated me to get stitching again and has helped lift my spirits, I now have something to do at night rather than sit and worry about the bills. I have seen that there are people in a lot worse situations than me (both financially and health wise - hugs to all).

I know this isn't post isn't really about stitching but felt I needed to say thanks to all that have helped - you know who you are.

If I can do anything in return to help anyone feel better please shout.

You have my sympathies Keiss, I tore a muscle in my shoulder on Christmas Eve. Slipped on the ice after finishing work at 1 in the (Christmas) morning, grabbed the roof of my car and big OUCH.

Been hitting the painkillers big time and awaiting physio atm. Stitching has been very uncomfortable as it stiffens up so much sat at a desk all day. Started a new kit this morning and trying out my lap frame so will see how I get on with that!
Ooh crumbs...that sounds nasty bikerchick!! Think I have just trapped a nerve or something (I hope!). All my shoulder and neck muscles have siezed up so it's rather painful atm. Didn't get much sleep at all last night may have to resort to the chair tonight.

I can't take neurofen/ibuprofen due to developing stomach ulcers last year (caused by all the medication I was taking at the time :(). So trying to survive on paracetamol and neurogel...not really hitting the spot, so may have to head back to the physio next week - more money...but in a good cause :o! Hopefully things will ease up soon...must get off the computer though as not very comfortable sitting here! Wonder if I can doze in my chair for a bit?

Enjoy the lovely weather that seems to be over most of the country. May get DS out in the garden later to do some sorting/weeding. I so wanted to do some myself, d**n this shoulder!!!:mad::mad:

    Afternoon all,

Bigs hugs to all who need them!

I have been down myself recently, money worries being the main culprit :(

It definately helps knowing that many have been in the same boat and have got through everything so thank you for sharing your stories. :)

Sorry I haven't posted my santa update yet, he is progressing I promise. In fact I am starting to think about what I'll do about washing him when he's done. I know I'll wash before I add the beads but I thought I'd pick your brains first on the best way to wash!
I've always been careful to keep things clean so I haven't needed to wash my earlier projects and I have an irrational fear that the colours will run or something! I know the yarns are colourfast but still....

Does anyone have any tips for washing their completed work? Or just some reassurance that everything will be OK lol

Also I need a frame as I would like to start a bigger project for my mum, any recommendations? :D I've only used hoops before, and haven't used one at all for santa so I have no idea really!

Ailsb and Marru - just sending you (((HUGS)))

Keiss - weather is lovely here as well - but it'll be a cold day in hell before I go and do any weeding though :rotfl: Hope that shoulder gets better soon, preferably before you need to fork out for a physio ;)

Maria - the kiss cushion is lovely :j I don't envy you that new design though, I really don't like doing flowers either. How long did you say you had to get it completed? :)

Sk00bie - hope things get better for you soon as well (((nother hug))) as for washing - in the sink with some washing powder for a wee hand wash and it will be fine. Roll it in a towel and press to wring the water out of it before ironing. It won't run, I PROMISE ;)

As for a frame, I can't recommend this one highly enough:

Have been using it myself for nearly 2 years now and will never go back to a hoop :T

Please take care of the neck and shoulder. I feel down stairs a few years ago and grabbed hold of the bannister really hard to stop myself. My neck and shoulder were painful for months and developed into a frozen shoulder - can't describe the pain of a sudden movement (even turning over in bed would wake me up). In the end I had to have a cortisone injection into the shoulder joint which sorted it.

Have you got a TENS machine by any chance, I found them very effective.

Bless u, I wish I lived closer. I too am in that predicament though. I really need some friends. I've moved 27 miles from family and haven't got many friends (being 25 with 3 kids does that to u!) Only person I speak to other than the people I live in my house is my neighbour who I go shopping with normally once a week, sometimes less :(

I have some sad news. OH's Gramp died yesterday afternoon :( He has been ill for a while and in and out of hospital but he has bounced back so many times before we all kind of presumed he would last forever. Funeral is next Friday. OH is fine, he doesn't share his emotions, he likes to stay "strong". Just finding it hard to console him when there is no physical emotion to console!

Going to get some more of my DOH done tonight whilst watching some hairy bikers!
