Oh good...I'll look forward to my broken mirror tomorrow then!

Yep another broken mirror here - got a parionoid about bad luck but hubby assured me that I didn't break it so I won't get the bad luck - I hope not as we don't need any more bad luck - he finishes job on Wednesday :(

    ;)I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY;)
  • Hi everyone, I hardly post lately so I've been reading lots to catch up. I've been away to Yorkshire since Thursday and got back last night. My mum has a cottage up there, so we always try and take a few short breaks a year. Did lots of hill walking, and it was nice to see my kids are starting to get to an age where they don't moan throughout the walk! We managed one 3 mile walk with no complaining from them, which would have been impossible a year ago (although they did get bribed with a chocolate bar):D. It would have been a great weekend for losing weight if it hadn't been for all the yummy food we ate, such a shame exercise always makes me hungry :rotfl:

Ailsb - That looks good. I always mean to go back to old projects but never get round to it, well done you for getting back to it and not leaving it in your UFO pile forever.

Ruth honey - That's coming along quickly, looks so good where the backstitch is done. My cut thru has ended up bottom priority lately, so still not much done.

The Anchor vs. DMC thing, I vote for DMC. I've never noticed the difference/known which is best, but last week I had out an old DMC kit and it seemed soooo much nicer to stitch. I can't explain it, but it feels better. With the Bothy Threads Madeira I notice the quality difference even more. I find (I think someone else said this) that on several colours the thread goes very thin, and I have patches in big colour blocks that look odd because of this. Also the supertwist drives me mad and I hate hate hate sewing with it :( . Madeira doesn't really get knotted up though, so I find that a plus point at least.

I'm guessing I won't get much stitching done this week as it's half term, but I'll be doing other craft as the kids want to make cards and try scrapbooking :)
  • Finished my LOVE cusion on Saturday, so will get the sewing machine out at the weekend and back it.
13 hearts finished, another 7 to do.

Want to do my red crockery picture for the kitchen next, got it out yesterday afternoon to have a good old look at it, but was working last night so put it back in the drawer! I like to have a couple of hours to start a new kit, so I can see progress straight away. H2b has three day shifts this week so will try and get up at 5.30 on Wednesday and Friday morning so I can fit in an hours stitching before work!

  • Hi all. I always used to use Anchor as all my kits had anchor but when I started buying just the charts the threads were always in DMC. I've tried the conversion tables but they dont exactly match up there are subtle differences in colour and the piece I'm working on at the moment has loads of shading in similar colours so I'm doing it in DMC so I guess I'm a fan of both although I find that DMC frays a bit at the end of the thread when I've nearly finished it does anyone else find that? Would thread heaven help?

In other news I've put pandora away for now as I'm doing another HAED as a wedding present and it's HUGE. I've nearly completed one and a bit pages. I'll post a pic tonight.

After reading this I went to check mine as well - and it's flipping broken as well :(

Ruth_honey - that's fairly coming along :j I love that design, would love to stitch it but my list is so long now I daren't :rotfl:Does all the backstitch follow the holes? I don't mind backstitch but hate when I have to break between the fabric.

So far all the backstitch is following the holes. I'm pretty sure Dictionary of Bras did too, so I guess Bothy Threads don't do the silly backstitch. Is it Anchor that does? I think the Tatty Teddy designs do that, which is why I stitch them on evenweave.

Yep, my magazine arrived and the mirror is broken. I wouldn't have bothered opening the kit if the broken mirror issue hadn't been mentioned, so thanks for that, nykied. Have texted my mum to warn her too.

Ruth. Your cut thru is coming along great. I love the detail they have!

Ailsb. Your project is coming along nicely too, going to look great when finished.

Here's my first progress picture of the Rennie Mackintosh sampler...

    Photo-0005-6.jpg

I started it way back on 12 of Jan but not much has got done because I have had 3 weeks recently where I didn't pick up the needle.
It's really nice to stitch because of the blocks of colour. No changing colour every 2 minutes and no confetti stitching! :rotfl:

    Morning all

I started my 'Highland Living' project on Thursday and...if I'm honest.......I'm bored with it. :o

Single strand blue-on-blue is getting a bit tedious so I didn't bother doing much yesterday at all.

Did get one page finished though - the one which is all blue, the other pages have some green and a little bit of 2 strand stitching so hopefully won't be as boring as the first page was :rotfl:I am comforting myself with the fact it will look nice and delicate when it is completed :) That's the reason I swopped the aida for evenweave, so my own fault it is more difficult lol

  • I see that the Cross-stitcher page on FB has posted about the broken mirror, I suppose that's what they get for being a bit clever with their free gifts...

I've got such a busy week this week, so I doubt I'll get any stitching done, which is sad news because I'm about 1 week or so off finishing the Piglet cushion. Will try and put some time in this week around what I'm doing.
