OK, I need to ask because I can't figure this out. With lacing, how do you start the lacing bit? As in, how do you attach the thread to the material to start lacing? I've laced one thing before-a very long time ago!-and I can't remember what I did!

I didn't want to turn 30 because in my mind by now I should be 'grown up' and well...I'm not! I don't have a job & I have no clue what I want to do with my life. Still don't, but yet I'm not bothered about turning 31. Actually, wait a minute...:eek::eek:

Ruth_honey I'm 32 now, had a career but got ill and had to give it up as I got too ill to work :-( (more time to cross stitich though so there is a bright side!) so I really wouldn't worry about the whole 'grown up' thing! ...31 feels worse than 30 for some bizarre reason!

...Anyway, the lacing - I usually just cheat and stitch the end of a thread into a random bit at one corner and make it up from there. It usually works!

Reading all this about Derbyshire has sorted my Sunday out - DH hates trips there but if I promise him no Chesterfield (then we won't see my parents) he may relent!!!

Craftygranny - love the bears, can't wait to see a pic of the whole thing.

    35 is worse than 30 and 31, I promise you :(
  • It's quite strange seeing people's ages on here. Most of my friends think cross stitch is for the mature person and can't understand why I bother with it. Yet that stereotype seems totally wrong as so far most seem to be around their 30s. (I'm 27 by the way, but feel at least 35!!)
  • I'm 28 and have been stitching since Secondary School, so over 12 years now. :)
  • 36 and getting excited about being 40!! well naughty at 40!! :j

by time i knew it it was 10pm. jumped in the bath for 5mins.................and got out at 11.30 oooppssss.
That sounds just like me....dh never believes me when I say I'll be 10 minutes in the bath.

I'm 32, and finding that scarier than 31, for some reason it sounds so much older.

  • I'm very nearly 35:eek:, and have been cross stitching since I was 10. Most people I know think cross stitching is for 'older' people, especially my best mate:cool:, who incidentally crochets and knits!!!
My countdown to christmas 2011 began when I discovered this forum, thank you everyone! :rudolf::xmastree::rudolf:

okay you just found the stereotype now. I'm 52 almost 53 and it's not a lot different to being 30 except the children have grown up. lol .

I would have more time to do my stitching and stuff but have a five year old grandaughter who lives with us so as a result get nothing done for chasing round after her. Just like chasing my own kids when i was 30. Basically i think that means nothing changes. Don't know about anyone else but i always say old is 20 years older than i am lol.

Hello and welcome loubeedoo i've only been stitching on and off for about 12 years .
