(ebay pics, kits 99p each) and a really contempoary looking gingham layered heart. if anyone has those mags, i'd love a ;)

Oh flipping heck that's going back a few years!

I actually subscribed to that for ages. I don't have the magazines anymore but all the charts were printed inthose little booklets in your pics and there was a sectioned storage box to keep them all in. There was a little kit with every magazine as well, I must have about 50 of them in my wardrobe.:o

Now I 'think' I know where the box with the charts is - it should be in a storage box up in the attic since we moved 3 years ago. however, seeing this has reminded me that I would like some of those charts so I might have to 'find' a reason for hubby to venture into the attic and get the box for me...;) Prob Thursday, I'm working tomorrow night and don't want him clumping about when the kids are asleep :rotfl: Will deffo try and find them though

Sounds like you had a great birthday! I hated turning 30, I even planned our wedding for 10 days after it so no one would [STRIKE]make a fuss[/STRIKE] take the mick :o (being the eldest of 4, and at 31 now, I am classed as the 'ancient' one apparently...pfft):rotfl:

that sounds like a FABBB birthday 23rdspiral.

Well I have had to start my backstitch on cabbage patch..... boring (plus my flippin needle won't go through all the threads easily on the back so takes twice as long.

    night night.
loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:

Sorry 23rd, I've not got any Cross Stitch Magic magazines - never even heard of them!

Glad to hear that you enjoyed your birthday :)

    Hello everyone,

Here's a little tale of a birthday girl and her love of cross stitch...

On the recomendation of someone on here we went to Bakewell and ate lovely lamb pies and bakewell tarts, and i 'popped' in the Xstitch shop. Well i thought i did, aparently i came out 30mins later! they had a HUGE range, but all quite pricy, and mostly not really my thing - apart from some really nice american charts, but at 7 - 9 pounds each for only the chart they stayed there. I did however, get WoXS 165 (Charlie& Lola & FAB craft tattoo style charts!!)(if i'd have known how fab, i'd have bought when issued!), WoXS 166 (sewing themed biscornu for a friend) & CrossStitcher 228 (bowl of cherries & HomeSweetHome hanger) all for 1pound each donated to charity!

626gdau.gifI opened my prezzies after 8.07pm... i didnt want to leave my 20s till i really had to! and recieved a lovely ribbon stitched card from a dear friend and a DMC poppies kit from my mum. gosh! my mum has noticed i do XStitch! wow! it's not quite what i'd choose, it's really 'blocky' but when i thanked her for it she said "it looked good & simple to stitch on a train, you dont have to put it up". bless her! so i said it was, and that i would, but maybe it'd one day be given to an aunt. I think she liked that.

The next day we got over our hangovers by doing every charity shop in Buxton we could find... and I found 3 cover kits (no charts) for 99p (but with DMC threads & needles i thought they were good value). I've looked it up and they're from a defunct mag called 'Cross Stitch Magic'.

In another shop i found a complete kit called the Darlington Sleeper by the craft collection ltd. It's a nostalgic piece with a sleeping train porter. i'm not sure if i'll stitch it, but it's on 16 count antique aida so the bits will be useful if i dont... it was 2.50, down to 1.50 so it seemed no one locally wanted it so i cant feel bad if i break it up.

I also treated myself to this kit. when i showed my OH it, he laughed so lound people looked round... so how could i not get it?! it was in the art gallery bit of the Pavillion in Buxton for 6.99.cheerleader3.gif

So, although i didnt get any stitching done, i did think and read about Xstitch a lot on my wknd away!

(hiker.gif and did an 8 mile hike up Mam Tor, and a lovely walk up a hill ouside Buxton of 5 miles! and found a lovely patchwork shop on the way home and bought a few bits at 75% off!!!)

I have all the magazines and patterns for all those magazines but no scanner if you pm your address I can photocopy and send them to you just list which ones you need in the pm as memory has gone poop at the moment thanks to my tablets
  • The other day I opened up a box of cross stitch pitcures I did years ago and I have the same first picture as you posted but framed in a quick clip glass frame from the house I lived in before!

small world of cross stitch :rotfl:
  • Hi Ladies (& Gents, if any)

Eagerly awaiting the arrival of an "I love Wales" bothythreads kit for my friend. She is very patriotic, very Welsh (interesting when the Rugby world cup is on, as I tend to [STRIKE]slur[/STRIKE] sing Swing Lo Sweet Chariot, especially when we are in the pub or rugby club in deepest Wales :rotfl:), ooo and she also loves gardening!

I'm planning on stitching both for her, one for her birthday in the summer, and the other for Christmas. But can't decide which to stitch for her birthday or for Christmas. Can you help?

(As a new user can't post links but the choices are Dictionary of Gardens or I love Wales - both by Bothy Threads).

    Thanks in advance

Garden for summer, Wales for Christmas. Love the Wales design - being a avid follower of the Welsh rugby team and crying when they sing the national anthem I wear my shirt with pride while the rest of the house (3 boys) wear their England shirts. I do love it when Wales beat them :rotfl:.

I have just noticed the heart with the Welsh dragon in it on the design and that would be perfect for a couple of cards I am doing this year may have to try and find a design for just that part.

Hope the trip to the docs means you get something to ease those headaches witchwoopiggy....my sinusitis has flared up since last Thursday, so no X-stitch for me :( I want to try some today and see how I get on.

News though..my online picture frames arrived this morning!!:j Not had a chance to really look at them as had to take DS2 to and from the physio (his foot is slowly improving, but still quite painful).

I will post a piccie once I have laced up my stitching....oooh I can't wait. My poor friend will at last get her rather delayed Christmas present!! :D

Glad you had a great birthday 23rd...haven't been to Bakewell for years...used to go camping there with DH ...and our very bouncy English Springer, all in an MG BGT!!!:rotfl:

We lived in Macclesfield, so it wasn't very far away. Oh those were the days :D

finished Dh valentine card just got to get a mount for it, found a little pin cushion id started and put aside so finished the stitching on that last night (it was a cover kit from cross stitcher mag years ago) thinking i might look through my mags and try to find an old tractor to do for my dad, his birthday is end of feb so even if i can only find him a little one i can do it as a card.
