DH got me a kindle for my birthday and they are brilliant! Very durable (i'm clumsy and it's still alive!) and it's great to think 'oh I want to read that' and 10 mins later have it downloaded. Know what you mean about proper books though - I love them; just the feel and the smell??? (yes - I'm odd!). It's 50/50 for me really.
Managed to get a bit of the Kingfisher done last night :-)
Got a whole storage box full of old cross stitch magazines now that mums been so will spend the afternoon looking through them - argh - more projects are guaranteed! If anyone is looking for anything in particular let me know & I'll see if I can help. There must be about 50 mags from 1999 onwards!
Hope you're all having a good weekend xxxxCross Stitch Cafe 2011 - no 58 :A

I never thought I'd get on with my e-reader either. Hubby got one 18 months ago and I used to stare at it and hate it, the page turn annoyed me, wasn't the same as a real book etc. Then he bought me one xmas 09 even though I didn't want one, and within a week I was totally converted! I couldn't cope without it anymoreAnd it isn't like a PC screen, doesn't hurt my eyes at all.
No stitching done, but I've had a lovely weekend. Went to my daughter's dance show yesterday which was great, and then went out for a meal to a buffet restaurant today. It had chinese, indian, thai, mexican, english, and italian food. I ended up eating 5 plates of main course, and 3 lots of desserts! I've well and truly stuffed my poor attempts at dieting now :rotfl:
I popped into Hobbycraft on the way home and was as disappointed as ever. Northampton seems to be the worst branch I've ever been in, so little to interest me. I couldn't even get a pen to mark on the Aida!0 -

I'll post the Queen Anne House pic first as that has the least visable progress. I had made a small mistake on the left tree & spent a while unpicking that today. Securing the ends where you had to cut & unpick drives me crazy! Did some beading on it afterwards & although it looks 'amost there' it's not quite on the home stretch yet. But I'm getting there...
I have done a fair bit of stitching on Princess Palace cut thru this week. The bug just bit me & I couldn't seem to put it down at all. Think I worked on it most of every day except Friday. Pleased with my progress, but it won't continue at this rate! Got to work more on some other designs...Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

Well, I've made good progress with Newton today. I just have the white and cream to stitch which I'll try to do this week then it's just the back stitch and the French knots although I'm going to use seed beads as Newton bear is eating cake so the beads will look more like the cherries in the cake :j
I would like to carry on tonight but I'm tired and the cream is hard to do in the poor light. So I'm going to leave now and shall probably head to bed soon with a book! I shall read all of a sentence no doubt before I fall asleep!0 -
pennib and tellme I have the Margarat Shelly chart of the baking cats, if you message me I will
them to you
(I hope thats what people mean by)
Have to agree that Crossstitcher is more of a needle craft magazine than a cross stitch mag (although love the Margaret Shelly animals). They shouldn't have changed.
Margaret Shelly, Bothy threads (cut thru, dictionary of, Gorjuss and i love series) are firm favoruites followed by Lizzie Kate and Lili points. My countdown to christmas 2011 began when I discovered this forum, thank you everyone! :rudolf::xmastree::rudolf:0
