I listen to audio books which means I can do both although you can't beat the real thing and I haven't lost myself in a good book for absolutely ages. I used to be a real bookworm hence my post yesterday:D because I really miss it.

I am not planning on doing very much today. More stitching of my newton bear eating cake. Columbo is on the tv later :j

and I also have Room to start so a day of stitching/reading/tv!!

Most of my reading gets done in bed before going to sleep so it doesn't interfere with stitching time at all :D
I thought about getting a Kindle for xmas but I love the sight of books on shelves and the feel of them in my hands when reading them.
I'm very clumsy too. Not sure how many times a Kindle could be dropped without dying :o
:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:
  • I have a kindle which I bought to take on holiday as taking lots of paperbacks in your suitcase weigh quite a bit. However I also like the feel of books and seeing them in my bookcase so I don't think the kindle is going to take over how I read books.

I'm a hoarder - not just of x-s stuff but also books. I love american forensic crime novels (Patricia Cornwell, Tess Gerritsen etc) and I feel "compelled" to buy all their new books even if I've not read the previous one. So I've got a pile of at least 4 books waiting to be read. :D

I really need to catch up with them and my UFOs before the gardening season arrives, as I don't get much reading or stitching done over spring/summer :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I love Tess Gerritsen's books too. I've got all of them apart from the newest one and 'The Surgeon', which is easily my favourite and the one I read first. I lent it to someone, never got it back, bought another and then made the mistake of lending it to someone else, who also never gave it back. So now I don't have it at all

That is exactly why I don't lend my books (or DVDs) out. I'm a bit precious when it comes to my stuff & I'm more likely to lend someone money than a book or film.

I am totally a hoarder and there's certain books I want as a book, rather than a Kindle download. I do love ereaders though. I've had my sony pocket one almost a year & I bought DH a Kindle for his birthday in November. For travelling they are just brilliant, but I won't stop buying books either. Sometimes books are still cheaper & I also want 'proper' books by my fave authors so I can have them on my bookcase looking lovely! But we have SOOOO many books in our house that it was either buy an ereader or start getting rid of some books...;)

Feel like I've kinda wasted my weekend a bit. DH's ipod touch was playing up yesterday & I spent 3 hours trying to bring it back to life. It wouldn't even turn on & when I tried syncing with iTunes, it wanted to restore it, then couldn't complete the restore. I tried everything it suggested online. Including uninstalling & reinstalling iTunes (which took AGES!) and eventually got annoyed with it & refused to do any more. DH picked it up, fiddled for 2 minutes & now it works!

Flicked through new Cross Stitcher & still don't like it. Again, like *Louise* said, the Margaret Sherry charts are nice-I do love her style-but the rest...pah...

Today I made waffles for our brunch, then between us we managed to get my motorbike going, so I've sent hubby out to play on that for a while to clear the cobwebs out (I haven't ridden it since October) and I need to get the washing out of the machine, put another load on, then hopefully (fingers crossed) do some stitching.

That makes me so crosss too.

I ordered a book (autobiography of a 1 year old) - anyway long story short i ended up with 2 copies. read it and leant one each to 2 close friends who wanted a read. Anyway I felt really bad, as I'd promised another person they could read it when i got it back, after about 6 months and not getting either copy back that I found one on readit swap it, managed to get a swap........ leant it to that person...... never got it back!!!

    :mad::mad::mad:

I now only leand out books I never want to read again.

I have a stack of books a lady at work leant me, that I don't think i will ever read. Am gonna make sure I give them back to her before i go on maternity leave incase she goes before I get back as I'd feel reallly guilty then.

my mums got a kindle, I don't think i'd get on with it. It drives me mad catching up on 2 or 3 pages of an internet thread let alone reading an entire book like it. I love holding it and the paper and - well just the 'bookiness' of it.
loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:
