Flat Eric, at the moment, I'm reading:
'The Circuit' by Bob Shepherd (about his experiences as a minder in the Gulf)
Chris Boardman's autobiography (borrowed from someone at work)
A book about the Palestinian struggle starting with the massacre at the Olympics
and 'Little Women'.
Any of those appeal to you?0 -

;) of the red arrows design?? my firends little boy is obsessed (could be something to do with his daddy being in the RAF) and thought it'd make a nice pressie for him when his new baby is born....... or possibly his brithday depending on how fast i am stitching.
i keep all my mags too.......tho am thinking i may go thro them one day and see if there are any i will never stitch from and ebay em.
Of course you can - I've still got your email address from last time. I'll probably have to do it tomorrow though. I should really be sorting the rubbish out of my car just now :eek:0 -
One of my favourite authors -- have never read a rubbish book by her.:T
My fave so far is 'Twenties girl', such a lovely story. 'Remember me' is a good one as well, oh and 'Undomestic goddess'...I could read her stuff all year :rotfl:
it was spooky cause there was a girl opposite me on the tram reading one of her books yesterday and i had mine out.
I've started getting her Madaline Wickham books (before she changed her writing name) "cocktails for 3" and a couple of others to see if they are as good. not read them yet tho.Of course you can - I've still got your email address from last time. thank youuu.
I reallly should be tidying my tip of a front room (think explosion in a lego factory + a packet of crisps DS had to open himself) but have almost killed myself carrying shopping home so am gonna snuggle on sofa with my stitching while DS naps (and eat my jacket potato with cheese and beans thats cooking).loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
Cross Stitcher did indeed drop through my letter box this morning and I bought Cross Stitch Collection in town so I don't see myself moving very far from the sofa this afternoon what with my newton bear to be stitched and two new cross stitch mags to be read. :j
Totally off topic.... but if you are a fan of lush and have used their website to buy lush goodies then I'm afraid to say that they are reporting on facebook/twitter that their site has been hacked so if you bought anything online between oct 2010 and jan 2011 then your card details will have been compromised.
back to cross stitch - what is everyone planning to stitch this afternoon/tomorrow and if you don't mind me asking, what is the book that you are currently reading ?? (I'm after some new books to try hence the nosy request!!).
soulie - hugs. Hope you are ok. i think we speak for all of us that although some of our posts might not be mentioning you, you are very much in all our thoughts and we send you all our love. We are here for you when you need us xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
My Cross Stitcher arrived this morning too. Not opened it yet, but free gift looks cheap & nasty.
I read about the Lush 'issue' too. Used to work for them a few years ago. Told my friend who I know still shops with them a lot & hopefully she's been ok.
Might sort out the mistake on the Queen Anne House kit this weekend. If I get around to any stitching. Bought a Blu Ray player today (DVD player in living room packed in, so thought we'd upgrade as there was a good deal on in Richer Sounds) so playing with new toy at the moment.
I'm currently reading Kendra's autobiography on the Kindle, Gok Wan in hardbook & Sophie Kinsella 'Remember Me' on audiobook. Bath books at the moment are cross stitch mags. (Hardbacks are too heavy to hold in the bath & don't trust the Kindle not fall in the water!)chickywiggle wrote: »Flat Eric - i'm reading Sophie Kinsella's "Remember me" its FAB!! tho a bit confusing. I'd recommend any of her books - the shopaholic series is the best!! Before that I read the "belle de jour call girl" books which are good. my friend has almost finished with the first one if you want me to post it to you (assuming i get it back). I've got a load of other books in the celler - will see what there is and let you know later if you want any posting.
Snap! :rotfl: She's one of my fave authors. Also love Marian Keyes, Chris (now Chrissie) Manby, Mike Gayle and Emily Barr. One of my favourite authors -- have never read a rubbish book by her.:T

I loved Twenties Girl too! Really lovely book.
Dewey is a good book too. Especially for cat lovers. Saw it in The Works recently, so probably a bargain in there.Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

Hi everyone.
I am back home in Derby now, until the funeral.
I know 23rdspiral passed on a message from me when I had replied to her, but I just wanted to take the time and leave a personal message from me just to say Thank you.
'Thank you', really doesn't even come close to what I want to say, as it doesn't seem enough right now, but it's all I have.
The amount of support we have had through all of this since Steven went missing right up until today, tomorrow, next week, next year really has been so overwhelming but brilliant.
I, well, all of us couldn't have got through any of this without EVERY single person's messages of support. Whether it was a word, a thought or anything at all, it really is very much appreciated.
My Mum and Step-Dad really could not believe the amount of help and support we got just from people online. It truely has been the power of technology at it's best.
Okay, I am going to stop typing now, as I don't want to overtake what this thread is for.
Obviously we are all still very much distraught at this tragic accident, but we take comfort knowing that we had a wonderful man in our lives for 22 years, and just how much he was loved by his family and friend.
With that in mind, I probably won't be posting here for a while, though I will check in from time to time to see how all your lovely projects are coming along. And like someone else said, just because it's not posted, I know you all are thinking about my family.
Thank you all so very much, again and I will speak to you all later.13 Projects in 2013 Finished: 5 of 13

Thank you for all your book suggestions. I love Sophie Kinsella too
:j. I have read some of the shopaholic series - I think I am on the book where she gets married so still have quite a few to go (Sister, baby, mini shopaholic :j) I don't like it when you find a good author but have run out of their books ! I've listened to the audio versions so far narrated by Emily Gray and she really makes the book come alive and makes what is a funny book, even funnier !!!
I'm not sure if i have read Remember me so have reserved at the library (i love the library!! - collected three audio books to listen to today!) and I haven't read twenties girl so I have just reserved that too !
Umm yes, I don't really get the buttons that came free with Cross Stitcher either? I so wish the mags just did the free kits because at least if you don't like the design, you can make use of the bits and pieces for your stash. I think my preferred mag at the moment has to be World of Cross Stitching as Cross Stitcher as a lot of people have been saying seems to be moving away from Cross Stitch and seems to becoming more of a needlecraft magazine. Such a shame. I bought cross stitch collection and it was lovely looking through and just seeing cross stitch !0 -
Remember Me's the one where she has an accident and loses her memory. Funny
I like to read all sorts, but at the mo I am reading Room, it was a Booker Prize nominee this (last) year, it's about a 5 year old boy. V Good! http://www.amazon.co.uk/Room-Emma-Donoghue/dp/0330519026/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1295717156&sr=8-10 -
I loved Room thought it was an excellent book. I am currently reading The Book Thief, it is quite a haunting story but well written0

I've read the Book Thief. Tres bon.
Have you tried The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns? I liked the second one best0 -

at first i thought .... how strange...... but now i think what a lovely idea as you could put them at top, you and any grandkids. what a great way to illustrate what they have achieved in 40 years.
I think that is a lovely idea. I couldn't use that one, as we all have long names and too many family members to fit on, but it might be worth me trying something similar. Or designing something, but I'm not sure I'm that brave!Apocasaver, I have this (as a kit but I don't mindthe chart for you. It's the ruby wedding one I have, fifth one down:

Thanks for the offer, I really like that one, but I don't think my mum would!! I'm not too keen on the sorts of things she likes, so I should probably find something I hate and then she'd love it :rotfl:The_Dragon wrote: »I found a picture of my parents wedding and stitched that for them
That's another good idea. I don't know if I'd be able to get hold of a picture. Hmmm...some ideas to think about anyway!
As for reading, I'm a massive bookworm, but I think my tastes are a bit different to everyone else's. I love fantasy, at the moment I'm re reading George R. R. Martin's Clash of Kings for the 3rd time, and just finished Joe Abercrombie's Best Served Cold. I usually read 2 books a week, so I'd be lost without my E-reader. It must be the besy but ever0
