  • What started out a funny tale, ended in a tragic loss that has been felt by so many. Although, I never knew Edith, enith, Norah whatever her name was, I had grown fond of her through this thread. I think we need to propose a toast to the old gal........so raise your glasses and up your bum.

RIP MrsC senior and may you never sleep in the bed of a stranger again x

Well what a send off, I represented MSE & took some lovely plastic flowers from the £ shop, everyone admired them after the service even though they were looking bedraggled in the rain.

It was a really good day for a funeral, the rain was chucking it down, the sky was grey and everyone was huddled under umbrellas.

I made myslelf useful by doing poo patrol as the blind scrabblers could not see where there dogs had gone to the toilet, it wasn't easy picking the dog poo out of the main wreath as the cream lilies had turned a shade of brown, I wasn't sure if the lilies were dying off or had poo on them, but still I did the best I could.

The funeral attire of the mourners was something to see, Mr & Mrs C wore matching cable twist cardigans and black trousers, the blind scrabble players all wore lime green t shirts with the logo "I've seen the light", not sure if it was a religous meaning or they had actually seen some light , the rest of the mourners were in a array of different colours, I think I was the only one who wore black.

The music was good and we all sang along to Spirit in the Sky, the last song was a bit disturbing "Always look on the bright side of life" as this was played at they very last moment when the curtains began to close, sadly the curtains got stuck so Mr C had to climb on the platform and to try and get them moving again, unfortunatley he slipped and ended up falling, he bought the curtain down with him!

We all walked out of the room with Mr & Mrs C in front, Mr C looked quite fetching draped in a cream voile curtain around himself.

I paid my condolences to the family and admired the flowers outside, I must say there were quite a few wreaths for Ethel/Enid, my favourite one was from Wayne & Wynetta it was a Packet of Fags made out of flowers, it even had the warning "Smoking serously harms you and others".

I couldn't make the wake bit as had to go to Farm Foods to buy toilet paper (cheapest around and double ply).

On the whole a good day!

Please pull my nightie down when you have finished

    you are my hero !!!!!!!! :T :)

i bet enid :A is looking down on you and thanking you for your kindness to those green luminescent dart players.... or was it bowls ? or scrabble ? i've really lost the plot with this last post.....

i'm so glad Mr C did not get dragged behind the curtain as he struggled to retain his mother's final dignity - he certainly would not have been singing "always look on the bright side of life" if he had...

  • The triple word scores were stacking up but I couldn’t find my near sighted specs to read them so I had use my longsight ones and go and stand at the end of the room to get some focus. I could see the scrabblers and the board but it was side on. So I asked them to hold it up but I forgot that it wasn’t a magnetic one so all the letters fell off and made a clattering, Clampetting, sound as they landed on the hard parquet floor. Oh dear I thought, I hope they don’t notice.

I quickly shouted out, don’t worry, someone’s just dropped the bag of letters, it’s alright, I’ll pick them up so I quickly picked them up off the floor and, as silently, as I could, placed them back on the board. The best I could manage in the way of proper words was Fag and Dog and I managed to make Pull Nicklass but that was the best I could do given the circumstances. The other letters I’m afraid were something of a jumble.

They asked me what the scores were but without my reading glasses I just had to make it up. One of the old biddies complained and said that it didn’t sound right so I just said with as straight a voice as I could muster, well, I think that’s right but I’m sorry if I’ve made any mistakes and left it at that.

It was time to take the dog for a walk and have a ciggy. What a relief. Mrs J asked me where I was going and I said to the great gig in the sky and she gave me one of her quizzical looks but I think she knew what I meant.

The dog was more lively than usual and I was so worn out that I let him sniff all the poo lying around on the street, it made him happy and that made me happy.

When I got back Billy Bob was in his underpants for some reason and I noted wistfully that they were rather grey and had a large unmistakeable stain at the back. And he didn’t have a washboard stomach, on the contrary, it was rather fat and droopy and out of shape. And very hairy. He asked if I knew where the loofah had gone and I told him that I had had to throw it away the other day as it was rather worn out. I didn’t tell him that is was because of what I think Mr Clampy had done with it. Why did he want the loofah at this time of night? I don’t know. I don’t care. Probably something unpleasant best left unsaid.

Omigod, I realised, they’re all still in my house and not making any sign of going to the clampervan.

Mrs J gave me one of her looks and so we sloped off upstairs to bed and left them to it.

    Night night.

mostlycheerfull... i wondered what your connection to Mr J and his family was - and on checking out your previous posts, i was highly amused by your contributions to a thread called

"Are we afflicted with too many myths about each other - ironic or what...
