Are you sure they are who they say they are. I would be having a strong word with my solicitor.
If this is the lengths people are having to go to to sell their property god help us all.
Are you sure they are not from the 'travelling community'0 -
In the words of Victor Meldrew, I don't believe it. It has taken me half an hour to simmer down and get rid of the Police.
We popped out this afternoon to buy some new curtains for the new house and came back half an hour ago. Clearly, I have been too helpful for the clampett clan.
We couldnt get in the driveway as a car towing yet another caravan had parked across the entrance where it abuts the road. A road traffic officer in a van appeared to have pulled the caravan and the driver over outside the house. This has attracted the local "darlings" over the neighbourhood.
We parked over the road and walked up the drive to find Mr and Mrs Clampett and a strange man talking to the officer.
The police officer came over and asked if we owned the property and whether we had authorised the caravan to be here. I said I dont know who this person was and then Mrs Clampett said it was their brother who had driven up from Devon with Mrs C seniors possessions. It appears that Brother Clampett had not hired a van and thought that all the MOTHERS possessions would fit in his car and caravan in one load. It was appearant he said after loading in the caravan there was no way her motorised scooter was going to go. He tried to joke and said that the battery wouldnt get him from Devon to here on it so it had to be transported.
I asked him where he intended on putting these possessions and he thought we had already moved out because the Mother has said it was done and the Clampetts had moved. She didnt fully appreciate before she left Devon that things had not completed. So I have had to agree for the possessions to go into the garage (thanfully empty).
Anyway, why the police you may ask? Well Daffyd (Daffy) from over the road thought that when he saw the camper van pull up in the drive followed by another caravan on the verge that the roma gypsies had invaded, especially when he saw the occupants. "They had a dirty look about them" and he called the Police.
So exasperated now, I sit in my study watching Brother Clampett unloading the caravan and car aided by Mr Clampett. Mother Clampett is in our kitchen now with an infuriated Mrs J making tea and Mrs Clampett is in our bath. The Police have gone, the hoodies dispersed and I may as well die.0 -

Well it just shows they seriously want the house, whether they want to pay for it, or just an extended holiday remains to be seen. There is another possiblity, they want to get rid of the mother, before clearing off and leaving her with you.
Good Luck, you are certainly going to need it.0 -

I think you should have told MRs C senior she can move in after exchange and not before. One night in a travel lodge she should be able to cope with.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
