I didn't even think to check the grabbit board :o, unfortunately I have already ordered it but thanks for the heads up!

Had a nice weekend but my budget is a bit all over the place at the moment :(. On Saturday OH had to do some plumbing work so I set my alarm to make sure he got up! I entered absolutely loads of competitions and then read another book. Sunday I had DD and she had found a pottery place on the internet that was near where I work. They sell blank plaster of paris items, you buy the item and then pay a small fee to paint them, you leave them there for a week and they heat them and glaze them. I did a fish and DD did a horse for herself and a frog as a late birthday present for my mum. It was good fun for a few hours but cost me £28  and I had to take it out of the money I had put by for mums birthday.

On the way home we went for a carvery roast which OH paid out for and I feel really bad about it but he says he doesn't mind. Technically I haven't gone over budget as my new budget started on Friday but it's left me really tight in the bank. Once my expenses go in later this week I will have £56 left. I will only need another £10 of petrol but have mums birthday, my friends birthday night out and then taking mum out for dinner. I will have to borrow some from my savings which isn't so bad because I have been doing probably too well but it's still a little annoying!

Don't be too annoyed - savings are there to be used and added to as and when suits. It's not going on a CC so that is proper budgeting! :D

  • I know what you mean Jody, I'm finding it rather tight this month too, stupid 5 week month doesn't help either!

Have decided to knuckle down and keep a tighter track of spending, like you say it's the little spends that add up!

I agree with Beccie though, at least you can dip in to savings, and not add to debt :)

Thank you both for your kind words! I am trying to be realistic in that I actually moved a lot to savings and my budget spradsheet shows I have not used anywhere near my 'allowance' this month, it is just this weekend that is causing the issue!

    If I can still end up saving;

    1. More than £226.60, I will be really happy as that will cover the holiday deposits :D
    2. More than £200, I will very happy
    3. More than £180, I will be happy :)
I shall report back on Monday with my level of happiness!!

    OK, happiness level is

Managed to save £213.09 so was pretty close to being :D. I am happy with that as I have resaved most of the holiday deposit even with the night into town and the meal yesterday.

Already spent most of this weeks allowance as I bought a dress for my friends wedding reception :o. I know I like the dress though as I have the same one in a different colour! Did an online shop yesterday which is being delivered tonight, it was £85  but that should last quite a while!

Hope everyone else is well, I need to try and catch up with diaries tonight!!!

Will have to have a think about my August target as it's going to be harder with summer holidays :)

Hi Kat, sorry I missed this last time I posted! I have completed an application to do a volunteering stint with the Maldives Whaleshark Research Project :D. They educate local schools and and go out photographing and monitoring the whalesharks. I did email to ask when I would hear if I had been accepted but I haven't had anything back.

Money has been a bit of a disaster this week :(, I bought the dress, then I bought 23 Point Horror books for DD's birthday (anyone remember reading those, I loved them!) and we went to the Cinema last night which I paid for so I am about -£20 on my weekly allowance :o. Fortunately I have little plans for the weekend and the next scheduled outing is not till next Friday for madams birthday so I should be able to recoup! I think if I manage to save anything this month then that will be a bonus, I have every Friday off to do things with DD so I can't see me staying within my budget.

Need to check the total on the change pot although I don't think it has gone up much as I haven't had any change to put in it. Just realised my savings balance hasn't been updated so I will do that now!

Some months are definitely harder to stay in budget but I'm sure the extra time with DD will be well worth it :)

And I remember Point Horrors - must have read 100s of them!
