I love your post reflecting what you will do once debt free Jody....I often do it but sadly a bit more of a way off for me.
Having been through the struggles I know you'll put it to good use. I think i'd be scared of it and worry that I will waste it and end up never spending money :rotfl:
Keep up the good work, I love reading your diary for motivationxx

I imagine it all the time!
I really want to get DF by Nov 2012 as if mine and OH's plans come off, I'll then have one month of knowing what it's like to spend my income before we quit our jobs anyway
You'll easily be able to save for a house on those figuresDebt at LBM Apr 2010 £28,767 Debt free as of Nov 2013 :j0 -
Thanks Hun, I am glad there it a little light at the end of the tunnel now, it feels like it has been forever but the end is nigh, I hope yours is soon too
I know what you are saying about not knowing what to do with it but I am hoping by the time my DMP finishes we will be ready to save for a house or wedding or something so I will have a target to focus on. The only thing I know I will need to pay out for is a new car. I have pretty much decided to lease one as I don't want the hassle of buying and selling and maintaining. I was thinking about getting a Diesel Fiesta Zetec S which would cost about £190 a month but by my calculations i would save;
£400+ a year on fuel
£200 on Tax
£800 on maintenance/services etc
Plus I think my Insurance would go down a bit! So that would cover almost 7 months worth of lease! I wish I could get one sooner but I don't think I will get approved for it

Thanks Bec! Even if I did lease a car for £200 a month I would still be able to save upwards of £500 a month and if OH can match it then we could save a decent deposit quite quickly

My Dad leases his car and wouldn't do it any other way, he saves a fortune.

I couldn't do it till after holiday next year anyway but I have a couple of defaults so not sure I would get approved
. My best friend has a scirocco on lease through her boyfriends company and she seems to think that as long as my defaults were over 3 years ago then I would be able to get one but I hate the thought of trying and being turned down
.
It's definitely something to think about though, I might call the guy she deals with and just explain my circumstances and see what he says.

Know what you mean, it's horrible applying for things and getting turned down. Could be worth the phone call though in case you are eligible - then when you come back from holiday you could be looking forward to a shiny new carDebt at LBM Apr 2010 £28,767 Debt free as of Nov 2013 :j0

Will have to see what my payrise is this year, I don't want to commit to a new outgoing until I can forsee the end of my DMP. If my payrise covers the majority of the monthly payment and then my DMP finishes I will still be much better off
A girl can dream! I could ask OH if he would be happy to make the payments but I feel awful asking him, I know we are a couple (my mum is always telling me that!) and we have been together for 3 years but I feel like I am making him pay for my problems. The flip side is that he doesn't have a car, only his work van which he can't use for personal things so I always use mine. I guess we would have it more as 'our' car.
