Thanks hun!
Well it is finally booked! I called Hayes & Jarvis to see if they had any later connecting flights back and they did, but they wanted an extra £87 each to save us 2.5 hours . So I called my travel agent friend back to get her to check the flight times and she came back with the better times at a lower price than Hayes & Jarvis :T.
So we have ended up paying £1,267 each for the 10 days with later flights back so we only have 2.5 hours wait in the airport which will be manageable (I think). I am glad it is all sorted now, just need to keep saving

Nairobi airport is pretty dire but I think for 2.5 hours and there being two of you then you'll be fine - I had 8 hours there on my own! I sat on the floor holding my bag and chewing nictotine gum! :rotfl:
It's also better to have a couple of hours gap in some way - takes away the stress of worrying about missing flights if the first one is delayedDebt at LBM Apr 2010 £28,767 Debt free as of Nov 2013 :j0 -
Becs, you could have lied to me and said the airport was fine! :rotfl:Any chance of them improving it in the next 9 months?!?!!??!?! Was worth a shot I guess
I feel I can relax a bit now but have already been working out how much I need to save to cover the cost before we have to pay final balance at the end of December.
Went to mums for dinner tonight and bought her some flowers for £4 and gave littleun £1 as she did loads of housework for mum last night. I think I should be quite within budget this week as I forgot that work colleague owed some money on our lottery syndicate so I gave him £10 out of my purse and he put £10 in my bank which I haven't drawn out. Need some petrol tomorrow but still have a £20 note in my purse and a few coins left. Will update total spend on Friday morning before I draw out my new allowance

Thought it was best to be prepared! :rotfl:As a smoker I am not a fan of any airport that doesn't have a smoking lounge - especially when they haven't taken the signs down so you wander round looking for it for ages
. That and the toilets would be my main comments. It was Dec 2008 I went through, so they could well have improved it by now, fingers crossed!

Hmm, I hope so! Ah well, I am sure we will manage!
£15 put in the car for petrol which should last till Monday. Just about to pay my Safari deposit so will amend my savings total in my sig so that I take out the amount paid in deposits from the target if that makes sense? I also checked the balance of my cash counting pot this morning so will add that too. Am hoping we can get it to at least £100 by Xmas as it can pay for travel insurance, malaria pills etc.
Am furious with Egg, after all the hassle with them rejecting the offer due to different surnames I got two letters last night to say they have passed the loan account on to another company! Why didn't they tell me on Friday when I called them?!? Also, Egg say the account is moving in July but the other company are saying it happened in May so who the hell is/should be getting the money? Not impressed at all!

You know that canvas I ordered from Ebay for £4.75? It turned up today and I am dead impressed, considering the price it is fantastic :j. Will definitely be ordering some more
Going to take the car to Sainsburys tomorrow and chuck it through a cheapy car wash and hoover it out, then I will go and get my car tax, groan. Just emailed OH an invoice for holiday deposits :rotfl:

Well, I realise being nice and hinting gets you nowhere :rotfl:. My savings account is looking a little battered so it would be nice to get some money back in there!
I so need an early night, I feel like I've been dragged through a hedge backwards, I expect I look like it too

I have just had an hour of pondering what the debt free future will be like.....anyone else do this?
My DMP will finish next year regardless of whether I pay a lump sum or not as the approx end date at my current rate of repayment is Oct 2012. On my little notepad I started writing down some approximate figures and am quite shocked (in a good way!). Our annual payrise is done in November and as I am studying I normally get a decent rise to relfect my growing level of qualification. I am really hoping that in November 2012 I will be qualified and my salary will rise to somewhere upwards of £32k. That would make me take home pay somewhere in the region of £2k a month! A very rough budget looked like this:
Income - £2,000
Outgoings
Share of bills etc - £400
Child Maintenance - £300
Petrol - £120
Food - £100
Phone - £20
Sky - £40
TV Licence - £13
After All Bills - £1,007 :eek::eek::eek::eek:
I can't quite believe it, obviously the above may rise slightly with inflation yadda yadda but that's such a big difference from where I am now, it basically doubles my disposable income! Thing like car insurance/tax, contents insurance etc I am planning on paying from my annual bonus so there will be no monthly cost. It's relaxed me a little because I kept wondering how on earth we would ever be able to save for a house but what I have put above means it will be more than possible. The only other thing I need to think about is the urgent need to replace my car, hmm....
