Thanks ladies!
Kat, I am doing ACCA (Accountancy - Ironic huh?)
I thought you were! I'm looking into starting that, I have met with my manager who is backing me, just need to speak to HR to see if I will be able to have a sponser to get work signed off for the practice. If not, I will still do it and will have to get a new job when qualified.
Are you doing it from home or at a college? I'm not sure which route to take as I will have to pay for it myself so the cheaper the better but I obviously want to pass.Loan - [STRIKE]£6991.95[/STRIKE]£6180.01; Barclays Res - [STRIKE]£600[/STRIKE] £0 - £22 per week , NWB Grad O/D - [STRIKE]£1185[/STRIKE] £887.86 18.28% SWALEC - [STRIKE]£700[/STRIKE] £0 NPOWER [STRIKE]£220[/STRIKE] £0 Kays - [STRIKE]£591.28[/STRIKE] £0 TOTAL DEBT - [STRIKE]£10,288.23[/STRIKE] £7,000.01 31.96 % Paid off. I do it through a company called BPP who offer taught and revision courses which are normally just a block of 3/4 days. If you want to PM me with what it is that you do at the moment etc I'm more than happy to talk you through what I've been doing (AAT & ACCA) and whats covered etc. ACCA is VERY expensive though, Each course costs between £500 - £700 plus study materials, exam fees and annual subscription and there are 14 of them .

I was torn too. CIMA you are tied more into big businesses whereas ACCA you can do small, individual and set up your own business. From what I understand you can be more "things" with CIMA as in you can be a big boss of a company etc but I want to be an accountant so ACCA slightly better for that. Both great qualifiactions though.
I haven't done my AAT but I have enough qualifications to go straight into ACCA but will have to sit all of the foundation modules (can't get any exclusions).Loan - [STRIKE]£6991.95[/STRIKE]£6180.01; Barclays Res - [STRIKE]£600[/STRIKE] £0 - £22 per week , NWB Grad O/D - [STRIKE]£1185[/STRIKE] £887.86 18.28% SWALEC - [STRIKE]£700[/STRIKE] £0 NPOWER [STRIKE]£220[/STRIKE] £0 Kays - [STRIKE]£591.28[/STRIKE] £0 TOTAL DEBT - [STRIKE]£10,288.23[/STRIKE] £7,000.01 31.96 % Paid off. CIMA is more management accounting so budgeting, forecasting etc whereas ACCA is more financial analysis, reporting and policy. I actually would have liked to do CIMA as I often do well in my financial planning exams :rotfl:. That said, ACA and ACCA seem to be the higher regarded qualifications if you know what I mean. Most Finance directors statistically are ACCA/ACA qualified rather than CIMA which is interesting and it's very obvious that certainly in my company CIMA studiers are seen as the ones who took the easy option (don't blame me, I just work here!)
Obviously I am sponsored so I did what my employers wanted but I am glad that I did. I also did my AAT so got exemptions from the first three fundamentals, my assistant has just started doing ACCA and has to do the 3 fundamentals but he has just done them home study, we cover a lot of the basics in our jobs here anyway which really helps.
If you have a BPP near you it's worth having a look, they do evening, weekday and weekend courses and although it's intense they have always been good if I needed help

Good Morning all
Can it be payday now please?! Have really struggled this month from the Centerparcs trip so looking forward to trying to get back on track. Had to take some money out of savings to do a food shop tonight but OH is going to give me half. Think we have done quite well as I haven't done a proper shop for 2 weeks :rotfl:. I have arranged all my extra points coupons and fuel vouchers to work the best way, I am determined to get loads of points :A.
OH had a letter last night from his bank saying that they believe the cheque he gave me last week for £1,500 is fraud . He desperately needs to speak to them today as I need to pay the holiday off this week and if they bounce the cheque it's going to make things uber tight!!
Really need to focus for next few months as I want to buy a new camera (mum and brother are contributing towards it as my birthday present) and I want to save as much as possible towards diving on holiday and trips etc. I got an extra £150 in my take home this month for passing my exams so that is paying for my diving next weekend which is £120, OH said he will buy my dive boots for me as a birthday present which was nice. I am meeting a friend for an Indian on Friday after work (doh - just realised I'm not working friday as I agreed to help mum with her house move!) and will be helping mum at the weekend so wont have a chance to spend much. Next weekend I will hopefully be diving, the weekend after we were planning to go and see a guy who came on the diving trip last March but I haven't heard back from him yet.
I am also very pleased to report that I now have over £75 in my change counting pot :T. I might use that to top up the camera fund if OH doesn't mind
Phew......think that's all, need to sneakily write a shopping list during the day as well
