Good luck with your appointment. I think it's a good idea to take your OH and maybe discuss how far in the future you would have wanted to have children if this wasn't even an issue. You will have your answer there - if it was going to be sooner rather than later then wait, if you were going to wait a few years anyway (until ready, DF etc) then go for it :) x

oooh babies :D afraid I zoned out the rest of your post in my current uber-broody state ;)

have now reread it, good news that they're open to putting you on it, fingers crossed it makes a big difference!
Is this medication something that you need to be on constantly to maintain the effect? If so, would they be open to you stopping it for 1-2 years in order to have a baby and then restarting?

Thought it would be easier to pretty much reply to both at once! When we had a semi-serious chat about it a few weeks back we both did say that it wouldn't be for a few years anyway. I want to finish my exams and paid my debt etc off before we consider it seriously so in that sense it's not a pressing issue but it's still something we need to actually talk about!

LOL Jules! I am broody at the moment but I am sure it will pass! There is a chance that the biologicals wont work in which case they will take me off them straight away anyway. I know one of the other drugs is a 3 year minimum before pregnancy which means a real no go for me. Even the tablets I am taking now have a minimum 12 month wait so I knew it was going to be a consideration, just a bit of a shame it's forcing our hand so to speak!

I've gone beyond my regular broodiness and into some bizarre hormonal madness! My nephew literally vomited all over me on Tuesday, and all I could think was, awwww, I wish I could take him home! :rotfl:He's such a cutie :D

I think it's because from September this year I qualify for the full work maternity cover, so we could theoretically manage if I got preggers then, and now 2012 is next year it seems so much closer somehow :o DH is getting a bit worried, especially as my consultant told me having a baby might help sort out my back problem :rotfl: Am still on the pill though, so nothing imminent!

  • Babies are great. I want another one but can't until paid the debt off and by then there may be too much of an age gap :(

What sort of Mat pay do yoy get then Jules? My company only offers statutory maternity pay which is awful, I think I take home more in a week now then I would get in a month on mat pay! :( Just not sure how we would ever afford it.

I wouldn't worry about the age gap Kat! There is 7 years between me and my brother and my DD is 10 now, she will be a teenager by the time we ever have one!

Now I am in a quandry about what contraception to use next as mine is due out next month, decisions, decisions!

9 months on full pay, plus an additional 3 months unpaid if you want to take it. It's an AMAZING package, which is why we're waiting for it (and the debts of course ;))

That is good! I can't say I blame you for holding out for it :D

I don't think our policy will ever change because the company has too many employees so it means lots of saving for us if we go ahead and have any :(

That's why we're not eligible for it until we've worked 3 years! I know we're really lucky though, we also have a cheap nursery on-site, so childcare is really handy and flexible working is practically encouraged.

  • Wow that sounds fantastic. I think there are some changes coming in April time for mat pay but I'm not entirely sure what they are. Loads of people say you get full pay for quite a while but I can't see that being true....

Oh I am slacking at the moment! :(

I'm totally broke, I blame centerparcs! Oh and my holiday ended up costing another £300 today......we decided to change our plans and are now spending 2 weeks on the much nicer island because the feedback from the other island was really not that good recently. In the grand scheme of things it's not a huge amount and it will be worth it to make sure we have something amazing but it's still money I really didn't want to spend!! Have all my fingers and toes crossed that when I get exam results next week I have at least passed one as I will get a bonus.

I am sorry I haven't caught up with everyone else, I can only use the home PC for about 10 minutes at a time at the moment as the mouse is giving me RSI in my hand and it is sooooo painful. Work has been hectic too so I just haven't been about much, I'm struggling to get organised at home as well and have so much to catch up on. Really need to push myself to have really cheap months until holiday now and I have been so slack on losing weight, I daren't weigh myself as i am sure I will be back to where I started

I think it's worth spending the extra money, it's a special holiday, and you don't want to feel when you're there like it isn't everything you hoped it would be! I wish we'd taken more spending money to Cuba for our honeymoon, as we couldn't afford to do the overnight trip to Havana, and now i really regret it!

So don't stress, just get back on the savings/healthy eating/exercise routine when you feel you can :)
