Flutterby I think the sage and onion would be OK with it, but just OK, if I were making it I would be tempted to do the nut roast without the filling at all, and make a tomato sauce for on the side and some balls of stuffing to go with it. Tomato sauce because I thinks its crying out for something savoury/sweet to go alongside. or you could do a plain gravy with some diced skinned tomato in it, that would go nicely. It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0

Morning all,
Blowing a hooley here, so I have a towel wash in the wm, which I will hang out later, yesterday I got our bedding almost dry, cant believe I am still hanging washing out in Dec :j, need to wash dd's bedding later.
Must phone my mum to remind her to get the turkey out of the freezer, I did not have room in mine, we have a rolled/boned one which I put in the sc and set a timer to come on in the early hours of xmas morning, once its cooked I put some bacon over and crisp it in the oven, its always really moist and the sc stock makes a delish gravy.
Today I need to make the profiteroles, and the sauce to go with, chocolate and caramel, 2 x cheesecake, chocolate and lime, make a cauli and brocoli cheese (which the vegetarians have requested), I might also make some yorkies, we dont normally have these for xmas dinner, but it might make a nice change and the veggies would like them. Might also prep the veg, which will leave just the potatoes to be done tomorrow, OH always does this, as I hate peeling spuds.
House had a good clean yersterday, so will just need to keep on top of things, will set the tables up tomorrow as well, which will save a job on xmas day.
Hopefully my mum will be feeling better by then, she phoned yesterday and has been struck down by this flu lurgy and sounded dreadful.
OK better get on, loads to do, have good days all xx0 -
It must be Christmas, I'm having cream at breakfast time:D Guzzling some cinnamon buns I made for Christmas breakfasts with a cream icing and a mug of coffee. I'm off today until Jan 4th. Today will be making a tart and a cheesecake to bring back to the in laws.
TBH all I want for Christmas is for MrS to stop working so much:( He's working like a beast and although, on the whole he enjoys his job and he's lucky to have a good job in this climate, he's so tired all the time and I miss the old MrS. He's going to have 2 days off over Christmas, most of which will be spent running around after his mother, who's not in the greatest of health. And he's been coughing and spluttering all day yesterday.
Still, I suppose, chin up and carry on. Hugs to all.0 -
Morning all! Up since 5 as I was too sore coughing and spluttering to lie any longer. Second load of washing nearly done, living room tidied, and DS sent off to school with a fist full of hankies. Need to take mum for her food shop this morning since its my last day off, this evening will take her to a festive drop in night at the hospice and no doubt shed a wee tear remembering dad! Better get a move on, shower and clothes and off to Morrisons! Have a good day!RIP Iain

morning!
up early got a busy day. Off soon to clean for the elderly lady I 'do' for once a fortnight then straight off to the hairdressers. Later I'm taking DS2s girlfriend home, taking him to work and taking Mum to visit her elderly friend in a nursing home. Then I collapse with exhaustion
DH gone off to see how much he can deliver today.
Forgot to mention in the above list I'm also doing the big shop when I drop DS off at Morrisons.:D going to be manic there today!

Good morning
Molly and Polly behave yourselves and take it easy.
The house elf has a friend visiting today, so I should get a fair bit done while they talk at each other. I want to make mince pies, and the elf has requested more shortbread. I'll make the dough and he and his friend can cut it into shapes.
I would like to get the washing and ironing done too, so there's nothing hanging around waiting to be done over Christmas. The house is clean and mostly tidy. I have told the elf that all his toys have to be put away by Christmas Eve or he won't get any new ones.
Take care all of you.0 -
Morning everyone, well it's still freeeezing in Lancashire, my poor rabbits have survived another night thank goodness. We're forecast a dizzy high of -6 today. Hubby has stopped at the local market on the way to work and bought our turkey and I've got to drag my poorly (flu) son out to the supermarket and market later to buy some Christmassy food as our fridge is bare. Two weeks of flu, followed by the Norovirus, isn't good in a run up to Christmas, must remember not to do that next year2025 - Declutter to Move House
