Morning all :) hope everyone has a nice relaxing sunday planned. I'm off into town later to try and get eldest son a new winter coat, seen a good bargain in Sports Direct. I can honestly say I have never been this organised, all the school stuff is bought and ready and today shopping for a winter coat lol whatever next :)

Well done Nicnax - if you think you're organised now you should join the other thread too. This one is the money making one, and the other one gives you lists of things to do throughout the year, all for the run up for Christmas. September will probably be start writing your cards a few a week so you don't have to do them in a rush all in one go. ;) Mum2one runs that one, and she's lovely. Some of us go on both threads, so you'll see a few familiar faces (as it were).

Michelle - read and rated already.:) I seem to have lost my mojo since that person commented. I got one message which was a sarcastic, and then another saying that it was ok I beat her, she should have been faster, but it's knocked my confidence a bit I think. I'll see if I can manage to write a couple this afternoon, but I'm at 26 when I originally planned to write 15, so I wont be too hard on myself if I don't.

Susan - thats good to know. I wonder if ebay accept that as a form of postage? It would keep costs down and if you had to sign for it at the other end, it would work out like recorded delivery ;)

Rufus - have a lovely afternoon.

Karoner - some great advice there :)

Kec - this is harsh, but you have to move on and accept he isn't going to ring to see how you are - He has a new 'family' now. Ring the Samaritans and let everything out, it'll do you good. Go straight to CAB on Tuesday and get things sorted. You have to concentrate on your own life now hun. Please come back on later and let us know how you're doing.

Thanks Elysia, I've had a look at the other thread before :) I've got to make my cards first before I can write them lol
  • good morning! I'm suffering today, decided to start making a new quilt yesterday and obviously leaning forward cutting over 100 squares doesnt quite work with a baby bump..my back is killing me today! Off to see mil in a bit and then I'm going to go through and sign up for the sites I havent tried yet. Had a look on Amazon yesterday about selling my books and it looks quite good! Most of the books I have seem to still be around £45 new so hopefully will get a bit for them second hand - I'd be happy with £5 each lol, theyve been hanging round the house so long, actually I've carted them through 4 house moves!

I've been looking at the other thread aswell, will probably join this afternoon, I'm trying to get as organised as I can - my sister and her family are coming to stay over christmas and she is also pregnant! due 2 weeks after me so we'll both be massive. Also need to sort out some childproof tree decorations, my 4 neices and nephews are aged between 1 and 7...most of my tree decorations are glass and were very expensive! not a good mix haha

Just saw something on Ciao about the premium fund which might actually help those of us who rate there understand what we get.

" The premium fund for July 2011 is online! We would like to congratulate all winners! Have a look at your balance to check if you have won a prize. Each month, a “Premium Fund” of approximately £2400 is divided out between the best reviews as follows: £15x10 (Diamonds), £10x20, £5x100 and £2x775. Please note that Ciao Caf! reviews are not being considered for a “Premium Fund” Award. "

So my new interpretation is that for me to get £47, I must have won quite a lot of individual prizes for my reviews. Eg, 9 x £5 + 1 x £2. That would certainly make a darn site more sense to me than what we are trying to work out. And I posted loads last month with the household promotion. Darn. I haven't posted that many this month, so I can't see me doing as well, but we will see. As always, quality needed, and quantity means more chance of winning it.

Elysia I order you to ignore what that person said. No idea who it was, but I get fed up of people trying to control things on these sites. You write well, and I like seeing what you have wrote, so anyone else can go jump in a pile of poo for me. How dare they say anything at all to you? Once it is added anyone could find it in the catalogue and write about it. It's the chance you take. Please don't let them get you off your stride again as you were doing so well hon.

Pablosmummy Please look at how heavy your books are before listing on amazon. I have had good success selling old textbooks on amazon - both from my degree and my teaching course. Some I did not list there though, as for the money I would have been paid, I would have actually made a loss with the postage. Amazon pay you some, but for heavy books you will end up out of pocket. Just wanted to say before you made an expensive error. Please list for at least close to what others are selling for, and I am pretty sure you will still sell quickly.

Well done Pablosmummy - Have a look at Rufus's blog - she does the most fantastic quilts. I hope you feel better soon.

Nicnax - woohoo another cardmaker. I make birthday cards etc, but I'm so not organised enough to make Christmas ones too - last year I did four. :(

Well Michelle - that's a turn up for the books. That time I got £5 - I got loads of E's and had only written the one review - so obviously awarded a £5 one, and the first and latest time I got £12, so most probably 6 x £2's. I've been rating loads in the hope it was to do with that. :( Oh well, I'd better pull my finger out and get some writing done then hadn't I? Thanks for the help hun. I really appreciate it. :)

Let's file that one under now we know eh? No beating ourselves up, and just get on with it. I am going to make sure I do at least one per day now on there to keep it up.

Thought all you chow-ees would like to know. I do think they should have just published that in the 1st place. I only noticed it as I was looking through the community announcements page to see what was on there, and it was obviously put on while I was away and it is by chance I spotted it.

I'm just going to go back and make that bold in my post actually to make sure everyone else spots it.

ETA - actually, Elysia, just thinking maybe we should add that to the 1st post too? Then you have it all in one place anyway.

Done it Michelle - I hadn't even put about Ciao on there. It desperately needs updating at some point. I'll see what I can do when the kids go back to school. I'll have more time then.
