Morning all,
I posted on the old thread about our Christmas day as it was a bit disappointing, but I have a present already to regift for this year, youngest daugther was given a make up set which she doesnt want, its one of those that come in the square plastic box that opens up like a sewing box with bits underneath. So I am going to use it either for Grandaughter or Eldest daughter for one of their birthdays. Had to give her a tenner for it but it puts me on my way.
Also on Friday I went up and made a start on my youngest sis's quilt, didnt get a lot done but its a start.
OH came home from work yesterday with a box of assorted ales from one of his mates at work but he doesnt drink them so re wrapped them for son today. Not sure if he drinks them or not but he can always pass them on lol.
Catch you all later, Rufus xx0 -
What was your best present?
Will fill this in tomorrow after we have had our presents.
What would you do different next Christmas?
Try to spend the day with more than just me and youngest daughter so she doesnt get so bored.
What was the funniest / daftest thing of the day?
Watching her work out her clues for her treasure hunt.
If you were granted three wishes what would they be?
That she gets out of the sulky teenage attitude lol, and we could spend a nice day together with out all the moods and tantrums.
That I could have my whole family together for a Christmas day at mine, not the extended family, just my son and two daughters, OH, and grandchildren. Not going to happen as son and eldest daughter dont really get on and hardly ever speak to each other.
That my Dad lived a bit nearer so I could get to see him a bit more often.

I forgot to add I'm really looking forward to 2011 and I'm looking forward to Thrify Gifting all the same as all gifts were so greatfully received and the HM fudge, biscotti, flavoured gin and chutney and jam went down a storm and I'll be repeating this next summer onwards!final unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550

What was your best present?
A book that my Granddaughter bought entirely on her own. The first time she has done this as it is only this year that she has been allowed to shop on her own. She is 14.
What would you do different next Christmas?
Be a lot more organised. This Christmas has been a nightmare and has left me soooo tired
What was the funniest / daftest thing of the day?
Watching our Border Collie trying to pick up his football in the snow when it kept running away from him.
If you were granted three wishes what would they be?
Have our house decorated
Buy a house for our daughter and her family

What was your best present?
My Nigella book from Hubby.
A necklace my edlest DD bought for me - the first present she has bought for me that she off her own bat with her own money.
What would you do different next Christmas?
Shop a bit more savvy. I always set a budget and blow it! I would like to stick to budget and still be happy with the presents I have for my family. Maybe even get some presents made by myself.
Find a better hiding for the presents (eldest DD found them this year and youngest DD still beleives in Santa)
What was the funniest / daftest thing of the day?
watching my hubby emulate the bum wiggling female on one of the games on the PS3 move we got the kids.
If you were granted three wishes what would they be?
To be slim. Never been slim and know it would help no end with my health and sex life! (not that I currently have any problems but they creep up on you with age) Got 7st to lose this year - so I wish for Willpower!!
To receive a hug from My Mom (died 5yrs ago 13 Dec)
To have no money worries - I don't want millions, but I would like to be comfortable and have some savings in the bank.Donna
Economy; careful management; providence. Whether you call it thrifty or frugality it all comes down to getting more for your money.0 -

What was your best present?
Hmm, it's difficult to choose. I think it's probably my Super Mario All stars game for the Wii. It's the first 4 Mario games, originally made for the NES and SNES, so it takes me right back to when my brother and I were younger and played on it all the time together. It was the only thing we could do together without fighting!
What would you do different next Christmas?
* I am going to FORCE DH to wrap my presents earlier than midnight on Christmas Eve. He leaves it every year and moans about it all Christmas Eve.
* I am going to make more money through survey and review sites. I started well but it stopped when I moved house.
What was the funniest / daftest thing of the day?
* Watching DH and his brother whip each other with teatowels! They were meant to be helping with the washing up and it just turned into a whipping contest. DH now has a bruise on his bum as his brother is very good at whipping with a teatowel!
If you were granted three wishes what would they be?
1. To have my parents and brother live closer. They live about 6 hours away. We're travelling down to see them tomorrow which is BRILLIANT but it takes SO long especially with a 3 year old!
2. To have my house fully decorated (that seems a popular wish!). We only moved in 2 months ago and our house really is resembling a squat. We've ripped all the carpets up, started peeling wallpaper off, but can't do much else until the kitchen wall has been knocked down (we're converting a tiny kitchen and dining room into a big, open kitchen/diner). I know it will look great in time, but it's frustrating having to wait.
3. To have 1 particularly fussy family member to actually think of something he wants for Christmas rather than giving no ideas and then not using anything he's given. Pain in the bum!Making money for Christmas 2012!0 -
Happy boxing day
Will do the challenge thing when I get home from my mother's which, at the moment, I'm dreading, but I will have a shower, get myself sorted, and put on a happy face.0 -

What was your best present?
We no longer give presents to everyone like before, so only got a few, from my parents - they are always very generous. Then from my son that lives in the home, a lovely photo of him in a frame he decorated in Christmas gitters. And a surprise gift - I have an online friend who makes the most fantastic cards imaginable, she always sends a gorgeous tiny gift for birthdays e.g. angel pin, fairy brooch but not for Christmas before that I recall. This time it was a keyring with an engraved cross, one of those celtic ones I think.
at would you do different next Christmas?
1. Shop for food even earlier (thought I was early this year but got caught out by weather)
2. Get wrapped presents for children done by end Nov.
3. Find a way to get last moment muddles avoided with DS money.
4.a Keep cooking timeline for next year.
b. Write down what food cooked too quick
c. Work out how which oven trays are needed well in advance and line with foil.
d.Write down how much food was left over, unnecessary
e. write down how much of everything was bought, how many peeled.
f. any bad buys? e.g. the parsnips at last moment in shops turned out to be too thin so caused problems cooking and I had to make a 2nd lot.
5. Write letter to send to relatives abroad in advance - had to miss out this year as forgot, they were very disappointed.
6. Find the most comfortable outfit for Christmas Day. Unknown to anyone I wore my pyjamas bottoms - I was cooking in them meaning to get changed about 30 mins before then lots of things happened at once and in the rush only changed my top half - no-one noticed. It was so comfortable wearing them because normally I only wear skirts.
What was the funniest / daftest thing of the day?
No-one saw this but me - but the muddle I got into with DS's envelopes.
