Will be saving £20 pm over 10mths then add in birthday money and go and buy them with cash - no CC use allowed next year. It was his idea and was a good one as I was hankering after them without thinking how I could buy them. Just hope they fit then I can use them for bad weather, days out, dog walking etc
Reminder to self on Pg 5 in Dec 2010 Size 6 in Walnut Galway or Wexford
£20 is going into the savings pot now as we speak for Dec payment, then same for Jan and so on
Next birthday is in Feb and I'll be having a little pootle around town looking for some nice gold earrings for mum and see if I can find any in person rather than online for a change.
What about the sealed pot Challenge? Put in your change and any spare cash you can, whether its 5p or 5.00 it all adds up in the end. :TSaving 2.00 coinsGrocerys set to 40.00 pwBeing Thrifty0 -
Hiya, I want to join in the 2011 challenges - I briefly dipped in and out last year but want to be a part of it this year. I'm a married mum of 2 girls (8 and 5), working full time running holiday accommodation.
What was your best present?
A charm bracelet by Nomination from my kids. I've also got a Chamilia one but find its very heavy so only really wear it for special occasions. This one is like a linked-watch strap and the links are the charms. They got me their initials, a little heart and some dance shoes. Love it to bits and it can stay on my arm forever.
What would you do different next Christmas?
We are spending Xmas in Florida next year so everything we do will be diffrent. Hope to have all pressies bought by October so I can get them all out in time - we go at the beginning of December.
What was the funniest / daftest thing of the day?
We had a fabulous day - first time we've stayed at home with the kids. Usually go to my mums and have to say it was a lovely day. Very relaxed, lunch was great and we just played all day.
If you were granted three wishes what would they be?
To not have any financial worries - but doesn't everyone on here wish that
To spend 2011 health-worry free. I do have to have an op during 2011 but hope that will be the end of the health issues I've had for the last couple of years
To lose at least 3 or 4 stone by this time next year.0 -

hello everyone, I am Andrea married with 2 boys aged 15 and 11. Looking to join with this challenge to get me more organised for next year.
What was your best present?
either my victoriana lace up boots off the boys or the cast iron baking stone my parents bought me.
What would you do different next Christmas?
be more organised and put money each month on to a savings card for food.
What was the funniest / daftest thing of the day?
watching the boys eating after eight mints without using their hands. the mints start on the forehead and you have to move your face so they drop in to the mouth.
If you were granted three wishes what would they be?
to be healthier next year
to stay organised
to not let things get me down.

Santas Challenge
What was your best present?
My Nigella book from Hubby.
A necklace my edlest DD bought for me - the first present she has bought for me that she off her own bat with her own money.
What would you do different next Christmas?
Shop a bit more savvy. I always set a budget and blow it! I would like to stick to budget and still be happy with the presents I have for my family. Maybe even get some presents made by myself.
Find a better hiding for the presents (eldest DD found them this year and youngest DD still beleives in Santa)
What was the funniest / daftest thing of the day?
watching my hubby emulate the bum wiggling female on one of the games on the PS3 move we got the kids.
If you were granted three wishes what would they be?
To be slim. Never been slim and know it would help no end with my health and sex life! (not that I currently have any problems but they creep up on you with age) Got 7st to lose this year - so I wish for Willpower!!
To receive a hug from My Mom (died 5yrs ago 13 Dec)
To have no money worries - I don't want millions, but I would like to be comfortable and have some savings in the bank.
Can't help with the sex life........ think forget what it is!! but we can def get you money savvy -
Slim - diet - there words that should exist in my vocabulary, but unfortunatelty they sound like swear words...... If my GP had his way, I'd lose 10 stone, my nice GP he'd settle for 7 stone..... me at the mo Id settle for 7 lbs.... I wouldn't mind lost 12kg earlier in the yr with not trying but its a stand still.
guess it will be new years resolution - for the ????? th yr running!! xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -

I have returned from my mother's and have to say it was very very nice. And my brother and one of my sisters decided they were coming home with me to clean my kitchen.
What was your best present?
Probably the cleaning from the christmas elves (brother and sister)
What would you do different next Christmas?
Be far more organised, and try not to get so stressy and depressed Christmas Eve and put the tree up more than 3 hours before Christmas Day.
What was the funniest / daftest thing of the day?
There are 2 - one was when my younger son asked if the people who run the local shop celebrated Christmas because they opened for an hour or two. I said it was probably about the profit, and my elder son said he didn't think the prophet would turn up at Christmas.
The other one is my brother's reaction when he realised my mother wasn't providing a full Christmas dinner, just some cold meat and chips.
.
If you were granted three wishes what would they be?
To be naturally tidy
To be a keen gardener
To have a halfway decent lovelife.0 -

Hello Tinkers - you've joined in the best forum ever.Please come back soon
What was your best present?
I didn't have many surprises as usually family ask what I want - it's quicker and easier to ask.
I had two best presents though, the first one was off DD2 (7) she saved up her pocket money for two months, to buy close family presents. She chose them herself, wrapped them and everything. Mine was a teddy with a victorian floral print. It was so cute.
The other thing was off my sister, a white whicker basket, lined with floral material (in the style of Cath Kidston) and my sister had filled it with Cath Kidston goodies, and trial sizes of L'occitane, molton brown, yankee candle, exfoliating gloves and stuff, mini bottle of wine, and wrapped it all in tissue and cello, and tied it with a big massive ribbon - I wonder where she got that idea from? Mmm it could be me. LOL.
What would you do different next Christmas?
I did save a few presents to wrap on Christmas eve, to get in the mood, but I left it too late, and then I kept finding bits and peices hidden, everytime I opened a cupboard, there was something else. Was still wrapping gone 12.30, so I will either do them all at once, or just do the last bits much earlier in the day/evening.
What was the funniest / daftest thing of the day?
Just a silly thing, but when we gave the dog his new ball. You have never seen an animal look so ecstatic in your life. He was pratically bouncing off the walls he was so happy - it was hysterical.
If you were granted three wishes what would they be?
I'm not a greedy person, but I need more wishes. LOL
1. To give my kids the best opportunities in life that they can have.
2. To lose weight, and to keep it off forever. People think losing is it hard, it's not, it's the keeping it off that's hard.
3. Visit the Northern Lights
4. To find the missing links in our family tree (sounds odd I know). It's a long story!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
DD sounds so lovely, bet ur pround as punch. I did start off as one wish, but then my list started getting longer - think I got to 10, but thought better make it 3.......
I'd love to see the Northern lights, and good luck with the family tree, we did start but everything just overtook it, only got as far as my great grand-dad, but apparently my grandad was a ladies man...... they always say that my nan (bless her she died when I was 18, but Miss Hoodie has her 2 names, those and my sisters 2 names she passed away at 18mths, before I was born), apparently when mum was a kid it was a standing joke that all this women use to turn up saying they were his gf, there was nan with 3 kids at her heels..... they never came back after that!!).
shouldn't laugh but sure it runs in the family, as my uncle followed the family tradation..... don't know what dads excuse was - he married into the family, but apparently on the wedding day mum lost him, she found him in the cupboard with the bridesmaid!! The day I have to go to court is their 48th wedding anniversary..... xx (not been naughty... family hearing!) xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
I've got to say a massive massive thank you to everyone for kicking this thread off with a bang, (I know the other thread still open, just seems sad to ask for it to be locked b4 new year - I'm a soppy sod at times).
A big welcome to all the new ladies, and a big welcome back to our wonderful ladies who made 2010 (and 2009) thread such a pleasure.
Miss Hoodie has marked the 24th of each month on her calender - so she can help with the challenges - haven't worked out if thats good or bad!!!
We've got to gut Miss Hoodies bedroom - looks like Santas grotto - were get there eventually, won't mention my bedroom....... that needs a gd gutting!
xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Hi Everyone
I would love to join in if that's OK. I'm due to have my first baby in May so I feel next Christmas may be hectic if I don't get organised.
I'm going to go back and read the other pages now and find out what exactly you all get up too.
