just found out the leap pad system my aunt and cousin got my DD is out of the charity shop, which is all well in good if it worked :( I have nearly chucked it in the bin through shear frustration on getting it too work.
Im all for recycle, savvy shopping. But im angry at this as I now have a wee girl asking why its not working, and looks like I will have to buy the unit so she can use the system. Or hope that she forgets it exists. ;) My Aunts response was, Can your dad not fix it>?:mad::mad::mad:

    Thats Brilliant!!

You could shape polystyrene, and use the florist stuff so you dont have to mess with plaster of paris........... I like that great idea for next year :)

esmer - Thats awful. I'm a great one for charity shopping but never get anything I'm doubtful about........in the past if I've had anything and it didn't work they've always taken it back and given a refund anyway. How do you explain to a small child ? Hugs (((((:o)))))
Now take it easy..........leave the housework, give DD a big hug and tell her santa must have dropped it being so busy and he'll sort it out (eventually)
Any chance you can get to the charity shop and get refund to get something else ?
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

  • Hi, I'm new to this thread, and hoping for an organised year, so I'm in. I'll start with my first Santa's challenge:

    What was your best present?
A new camera from my mum and dad.

What would you do different next Christmas?
Start earlier, I started in september this year but still found myself panicking towards xmas. I'd like to set more money aside to help my mum pay for the food I always feel like I don't put enough towards it.

What was the funniest / daftest thing of the day?
Playing Monopoly with my two sisters and brother-in-law, doesn't sound funny but it was.

If you were granted three wishes what would they be?
I'd like to give my mum her xmas day back - she spent most of it in bed with the flu and feels really bad today
Buy a nice house for me and my little girl
Sort out all my family's money problems in one hit
    THANK YOU ALL COMPETITON POSTERS!!

  • Hi everyone,

Just like to introduce myself to the forum. This is the first time I have joined a group but have admired from afar. I made hampers for most people this year thanks to another thread, pamper ones for the ladies and boyz nite in for the lads.

I work part time in a school, have been married for 18yrs and have two DD's 10 and 13. I'm 41yrs and am in my second year in university, for some crazy reason felt I needed to do more :rotfl: I have had rhematoid arthritis since I was 19 and can get tired fairly quickly.

I love christmas and hoping by joining this group will help to keep me motivated.

Welcome to the thread Whichway. Post here whenever you like. We are like a great big family and sometimes it does you good to have a moan. I need to lose weight too :D

Hello Tinkers - you've joined in the best forum ever. :) Please come back soon

    What was your best present?

I didn't have many surprises as usually family ask what I want - it's quicker and easier to ask.

I had two best presents though, the first one was off DD2 (7) she saved up her pocket money for two months, to buy close family presents. She chose them herself, wrapped them and everything. Mine was a teddy with a victorian floral print. It was so cute.

The other thing was off my sister, a white whicker basket, lined with floral material (in the style of Cath Kidston) and my sister had filled it with Cath Kidston goodies, and trial sizes of L'occitane, molton brown, yankee candle, exfoliating gloves and stuff, mini bottle of wine, and wrapped it all in tissue and cello, and tied it with a big massive ribbon - I wonder where she got that idea from? Mmm it could be me. LOL.

What would you do different next Christmas?

I did save a few presents to wrap on Christmas eve, to get in the mood, but I left it too late, and then I kept finding bits and peices hidden, everytime I opened a cupboard, there was something else. Was still wrapping gone 12.30, so I will either do them all at once, or just do the last bits much earlier in the day/evening.

What was the funniest / daftest thing of the day?

Just a silly thing, but when we gave the dog his new ball. You have never seen an animal look so ecstatic in your life. He was pratically bouncing off the walls he was so happy - it was hysterical.

If you were granted three wishes what would they be?

I'm not a greedy person, but I need more wishes. LOL

    1. To give my kids the best opportunities in life that they can have.
    2. To lose weight, and to keep it off forever. People think losing is it hard, it's not, it's the keeping it off that's hard.
    3. Visit the Northern Lights
    4. To find the missing links in our family tree (sounds odd I know). It's a long story!!!

Have devised a plan for saving up for my birthday present next year after talking to my mum and brother about it - going to buy some rather gorgeous outdoor boots that should last a long long time - they'd better for the price they cost - if they fit that is!

Will be saving £20 pm over 10mths then add in birthday money and go and buy them with cash - no CC use allowed next year. It was his idea and was a good one as I was hankering after them without thinking how I could buy them. Just hope they fit then I can use them for bad weather, days out, dog walking etc

Reminder to self on Pg 5 in Dec 2010 Size 6 in Walnut Galway or Wexford

£20 is going into the savings pot now as we speak for Dec payment, then same for Jan and so on

Next birthday is in Feb and I'll be having a little pootle around town looking for some nice gold earrings for mum and see if I can find any in person rather than online for a change.
