    Hello all :j

Sugarspun -some folk are on another planet;)

Well, had great ideas about doing stuff today but then chap came to chop down our dead eucaplyptus before it does any damage with the winds we've had lately. I'm glad he came but oh the mess.......half the tree now down the drive, some across the garden and the rest all over the wild life pond ! :eek:He'll collect it all on Wednesday but Monday I've got council builder coming to take out old bath and put shower in and the other builder coming to do the garage doors and brick up around the new one...............going to be !!!!!! !
I want to go away and hide somewhere and come out when everythings done and cleared up.

OH had 3 good days on the trot this week and thinks he might attempt a little walk round the boot fair at the local school tomorrow, weather permitting...............if he does, might have a go myself. With him getting the groceries this week I missed out on my weekly 'exercise' going round the supermarket:)

Have shelved Christmas for the time being otherwise I'll just panic:)

    Hope you're all ok:)
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

    Will this help, Willow? :)

I am feeling a bit cross, I was all excited about my Christmas shopping but ran across a wife of a friend who was all snooty with me, Oh *I* never give adults gifts, and I make things for all the children. I just don't see the point of giving yet another smelly set.

Cheeky mare, I went into a big explanation of love languages and how for some people this is the way they connect with others and then explained money neutrality and so on. But I am annoyed, this is the same woman who told me I didn't experience birth properly because the beastling was born by C-section. I suppose the thirteen hours of labour were all in my head then? Gah, some people.

Hope you're all having a lovely day :)

She sounds like an annoying cow to be honest and she's probably as annoying with most people she meets. I've had the misfortune to meet a few women like that, especially since having DS. They're the sort that manage to really insult you in such a way that if you act insulted they can claim total innocence. We live in an area with lots of middle class competitive mums who we are now having to mix with since DS started nursery at the school. Most of the parents are very nice thankfully, but it's amazing what some of the parents can find to be competitive about . And as for how you give birth, if the baby comes out okay then nothing else matters. Whether it arrives through the door or the sunroof makes no difference to the baby in the long run, and having a baby 'naturally' makes you no better a parent than someone who had to have a c-section or other intervention.

I always think people like that are actually very insecure and try to make themselves look/feel better by pulling down others. Rise above it, she's probably jealous of your lovely life :)

  • Have been thinking, usually by hyacinth pots for the female relatives. If I was to buy my own bulbs and pots would it be too early to pot these up now? Would they open before xmas? Sure I've seen the bulbs in poundland.

nicky - you do make me chuckle (ref cow) you have such a lovely way of putting things. And your right some people are very insecure and like putting people down, she probably feels guilty under all that bravado. What a silly thing to say though, does she go around canvassing people to ask have they had a c section...lol, how does she know

mary - dont you be over doing things and hope everything goes well for you

willow, thank you, i`m sure my OH would like something like that

smartcat - yes you get planting now , be out for christmas, or if you like me, they wont survive til xmas and end up being pots of gold...lol

Well busy day for me today, last of the kids moving out to UNI, gosh our house will be quiet, just me OH and dog...how strange is that after 19 years. Theres always been one here. And being an hands on mum, doing all the cooking, washing and everything, i dont know what i`ll do .

  • Susan - I know it will seem strange. That's what my mum said when I went (20yrs ago!). The next phase of life begins for you all eh?

As for that woman Sugar - don't worry about it, live life how you want to live it not how others want you too!

As for me, today I'll be doing a few Christmas preps - have a ton of cooking apples to turn into something good - will make apple sauce to freeze, apple pie filling to freeze, save some to make braised red cabbage to freeze for winter, then turn some into some kind of chutney when I get some jars again on Wed. Can't face any more jelly making today!

Then later on tonight I will update my present lists and budgets so I know exactly what is still to get - eg thorntons on offer in Mr T if they do them like last year or from the website which also did some good deals in the lead up to Christmas.

Let's have think what do I need to get?
    Salt for bath salts
    Jars
    Oils
    Lip balm kit
    Bath melt kit
    Chocolates
    Soft fluffy towels
    Comfies and pj's

    Birthday present
    Cake/buns
    Fudge to make
    Present?

Thanks all, feeling slightly better :)

Busy day here, mostly moving-related though, nothing festive. Lidl had no chocolate coins after all so I was quite displeased and impatient!

Have a lovely day everyone :)

  • i read you need to plant blubs in sept to be ready for christmas, we plant then cover them with bin bags then into the back of the garage to be forgotten about till about 6/7 weeks before christmas then bring them into the light so they can green up and start getting ready. ours have never been in flower when given but we usually get reports of flowers in early mid jan and they are always happily recieved. DD has done them for years. pots can be got for reasonable prices blub fibre is usually from wilkinsons (still have 1/2 a bag left from last year) and got blubs (by prepared ones if you want christmas flowering) from wilkinsons.
read in a gardening colum not to mix the colours of the blubs in pots as it can mess up the timings as different colours come at differnt times so we do same colour pots

sugar take no notice some people get pleasure from being like that dont sink to her level

    Hello all :j

susan - don't worry, I'm not overdoing it. Didn't make the boot fair this morning-neither did OH. He was late getting up and my legs weren't up to it so having a lazy day and recovering from kitchen quote I just got  Not too bad really I suppose as it included all appliances, chap who's fitting it with all his electricians etc. and its a big kitchen. Just not used to having anything that isn't second hand............lol At least it'll make life easier for us both and look a darn site better than the make shift stuff we've got now.

Think Christmas will definitely end up being the very boring ''cheque with card'' apart from sons christmas in a box and knitted scarf and wrist warmers for him and his girlfriend. Minds blank as to what to make or get for anyone else so I'm afraid I'm taking the easier option. First time ever I think so feels a bit weird. But you never know, I might have a sudden creative spurt come on:)

    Hope you're all ok:)

    Afternoon everyone

I have had a lovely day out with my bro and sil, we went to a quilt fair and I bought myself some lovely fabrics. I am hoping to make bags out of it for my two sister's for Christmas for next year. They are all Japanese prints and very pretty. The fair was at Hever castle, I hadnt been there before, it was a lovely place to go, lots of nice grounds to walk round in.
