    Hello all :j
So far OH had no really bad pains since last week......least not that he's told me about or I've noticed..........just the usual constant pain all the time and he just keeps taking the painkillers. I've stopped making a fuss.........think that made him feel worse -me flapping about trying to do things for him when he really wanted to do them himself so now I just let him carry on and I do what I'd normally do, knitting, card making and stuff. He'd been getting so down and think he needed home to be what it would 'normally' be if you know what I mean.

Angela - like the sound of tubs covered in rolled up newspaper'magazines...........which you tube bit is it on ? I've got a few little gravy tubs........just the right size to pop a pair of wrist warmers in and a hot choc. sachet for a 'winter warmer' tub..........(just thought of that..........lol)

kjp - 'christmas in a box'...........well so far I've thought of covering shoe box and doing a ''soft tree'' (sort of cone shape covered in fabric), fabric hearts, trees, boots, mittens, gingerbread people, for hanging on the wall, maybe couple of xmas crackers............flannel yule log (think everyone I know has had a flannel reindeer by now........lol) jar of sweets like christmas puddings (I'm sure they were about last year)
and looking for other ideas of what to put in it.

    Hope you;re all ok:)

Glad to hear OH is getting along ok Mary, like you said, its probably doing him good just to be home and getting back to some kind of normality again.

I have been stuck on Artscow all afternoon, its quite addictive once you get started. I have made up packs of playing cards for two of my grandsons, I have ordered one of them already and plan to order the other one later in the week when I have some more Paypal money going in my account. They worked out at $9 which I think is about £6, a bit dear for a pack of cards but I thought they would be very novel and they love playing cards anyway. I am not going to get them for the other Grandson as I have got a feeling he already has something similar, plus I don't have so many photos of him as I do the other two and you needed at least 54 to make all the cards look different.

There are some other good ideas on there I quite like the look of but I will stick to these for the moment.

    Hi Ladies,

Re my post yesterday. The Pattywack craft channel on youtube.

In this link they are demonstrating making pendants from glass nuggets.

If you look on the right hand side of the page, the rolled up magazine demo for Mary is the 4th one down.

Any of you catch Stepford wives on tv last night? All the 'robot' ladies were gathered round for a book club meeting with two normal women. These ladies were shocked by the excitement shown from their book of the week - all about Christmas!

The main topic they were discussing was pinecones. The non robotic women were horrified by all the enthusiam, and the Jewish lady said very sarcastically she was going to put pinecones all over her front lawn to spell out a message she wasn't Christian, and she was told it was a good idea to use them that way!

I couldn't stop laughing when I watched those scenes, thinking about all of us on here :)

    Hello all :j
Grey day and not the sunshine we were promised.
OH having bit more pain this morning but seems to have settled a bit better now........I think. He doesn't always say.

Angela - thanks for that link...........oh eck.....can see me now scrabbling for the weekend supplements..............lol Not sure mine would work out as good as those shown but she made it look so easy..........don't they always............lol

Need an idea..............you know the little paper pots they have in hospitals that they put the patients pills in - well OH collected them all and flattened them out so they're a bit like a daisy shape (without the pointy bits)..........haven't got a clue what to do with them but he collected them specially feeling sure I'd think of something and I've drawn a blank :( Ideas please..............:)

    Hi all

Mary, I can't really picture a squashed version of that medicine cup, but if Oh hadn't done that you could have covered or painted it and made it into a bell Christmas decoration. Or joined a lot of them together to make a toy snake.

Mary, if you cut from the edge to the centre on two of them you could you slot them together to make a hanging decoration for the tree? Put one of them one way up and then the other at right angles to the first, make a hole in the top of one and put a string in?

I am trying to imagine it, I am sure we made large decorations like this with the kids when they were younger using paper plates.

Edit to add, I found this page which shows what I meant.

Just had a weird moment. Didn't notice this before, but when you go on the user control panel there is now a blue triangle saying 'last post'.

I pressed it and it redid my list of latest threads and I was pleased to see mum2one had just posted here. You can imagine my confusion when I didn't recognise any of the posts that I'd read earlier this evening. Crikey I thought, loads of people must have posted at once.

Turned out I was reading Santa Challenges 2010 :)

    Hi All

Not sure if you know but tescos are clearing their current range of homewares at silly prices ~ so those of you making up gift baskets it might be worth a pop in to there
Ive seen tea coffee and sugar cannisters at 65p each, mugs from 27p, glass worktop savers 1.25 etc etc
Most the stuff is incorrectly marked down i.e the worktop saver (shabby chic union jack one) was 7.50 down to 2.50 (i think) scanned at 1.25
    Happy hunting xxx

I made some with my class last Christmas, we made 100 or so to sell at the school fair. We used the cello bags that you put cards in as the were the cheapest and easiest option. I then printed this tag http://www.dltk-holidays.com/xmas/magic_reindeer_food.htm and mounted it on card. The card was folded over with the fold at the top. I then put this over the top of the cello bag opening and stapled it closed. They were really easy to make and looked effective :)

Thanks NickyBo - where did you get the bags from?

Nicnax - that's a good idea too! Thanks!

Susan - that is SO generous!! Would love to keep them all the same - how many drawstring bags do you have and what would you like to sell them to me for? Or how many boxes (flat packed I assume!!) would you be willing to make and sell to me??
    Lol love thunderstorms! lol

Monkeynut - what about making your own candles? And use the bowls to hold the wax? Or if that's a bit daunting, go with the glass painting and then attache a tealight to the middle of the bowl?

fedupandskint - that butter sounds gorgeous!!

rufus - love the bracelets!! And big congrats to YD on her GCSE results!

Sugar - thanks for the link to that perfume site - will have a look!

Mary - love your Xmas in a box idea. Love to you and Mr Mary!

Incase it's of any use to anyone, Tesco have Huggies Swim nappies half price from today!

    Hello all:j
Fabric samples arrived -well some of them.......red with gold stars on -perfect for doing little fabric hearts so can't wait now to have a go. Did have one piece that looks like it'll fray to bits as soon as I look at it so thats a no-go.
Shopping with cleaner today......had quick look in charity shops and found 2 little frames that'll do for a couple of the 5 leafed clovers I've got so thats something else towards christmas.

rufus............dont know what we're doing about decorations this year what with my back and OH not able to do much. Was thinking of getting rid of the tree and looking out for one of those 'twig' types with lights already attached.....or at least something that'll be easier for us.
Thanks for the link........some good things on there.
All flattened out these 'paper cups' have still got the middle circle and lines so they'd make half way decent flowers of a sort ............I'll keep thinking..........lol
