Just had to come in .............got all hot and bothered in the garden trying to pull some weeds up with my new ''tool''..........have to say it doesn't do as well as I'd expected.......still, can't win 'em all.
Still no joy with the blessed zip files so I give up.
OH managed to down his ''strawberry'' protein drink ok....wasnt as sweet as he'd thought it would be so it's bearable. One more to go today. Think I'll have to do a chart of when he has to have all these medications and stuff............lol Written on the boxes which are morning noon and night so he knows.
He's doing dinner again tonight :T Not sure whether its because he's bored or because I'm c**p in the kitchen............lolI would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

Hi and welcome
Thought I'd let you know about our sister group https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2940122
It's another Thrifty Gifty thread but we focus more on the money making side of things over there. A lot of us are in both groups .. We have monthly challenges and you should be able to get lots of ideas for how you can make that extra moneyMaking money for Christmas 2012!0 -
Hi all
Mary hope you enjoy your evening meal tonight.
Thanks for telling us about the Shard, Rufus. Is it going to be for tourists only?
I finally got hold of DS about 5pm he says he thinks he'll be home later tonight but being very vague. He got a bit of a telling off over last night from me and I still don't know if he's turning up tonight or not. I think I'm more annoyed about his food than anything as I don't know whether to eat it for myself or not LOL
Mrs Money, the knitted bag sound really nice what are the handles like?
I've used zip files Mary but can't remember off hand, so I'll look up what I used to do and report back.0 -
are there any good (cheap obviously!) shops that are doing some good things for xmas gifts at the moment? any recommendations of where to head to?!0

elysia thanks for the heads up on the challenges i will be away on the 24th but back on 26th & will check it out then
nickybo i seen that there was another thread, i think i maybe stalking both
maryop hope dh is feeling better this evening0 -
1more - don't get stalking - join in the other thread. You'd be most welcome there too. We're like one big happy family
Mary - I've got loads of zipped files, but when I right click on them, they open for me. I'm not sure if you have to do anything else special.
ALJA - who are you buying for and what type of things? Hampers are a good idea, and go with a theme. Say you wanted to buy someone a DVD, you can make it a bit more special by adding some (unpopped) microwave popcorn, some bags of sweets etc, and packing it up nicely.
Perhaps if you wanted to do a Lush or Body shop themed one for a friend, you could pick up one thing a week, or when they're on offer to make it more affordble. If anyone is interested the code FRIEND50 gives 50% off at the moment - they have some gift sets already made up on there. It ends Monday.
If you let us know who and what type of thing you wanted, we could get our thinking caps on for you hun xI :heartpuls M.S.E.Mortgage Free 18/01/10 13 years and 8 months early on a 20 year mortgage!

Things for ladies...I'm thinking about what to get my bf's mum where I don't have to spend much money...
she didn't get even me a cheap 25p bday card or anything this year as she said she didn't have money, (even though she has enough money for quite a few other things considered as luxuries in life!..okay rant over!) but yes...I hope you understand where I coming from..
Think the hamper idea might be quite good! could get a few cheap things from the sale, put them together & they may look like more!
May be able to grab the same things for my mum too..my friends don't really bother with pressies anymore..
any thoughts would be brill!thank you!

Ooo congratulations!! Dressing up - not really got anything for her to dress up in so no idea if she likes that type of thing! She does call some of her clothes 'pretty' and goes on about shoes (she's only 19 months!!!!) - though I think he obsession with shoes is that she knows that when she's got shoes on she's going outside! Good idea though, thanks.
tq16 - Tea set a great idea. In fact I picked one up from one of those book people type things in work for £3 but it's not plastic (china style!) - do I risk it with a 2 year old?! lol to be fair she LOVES a 'cupa tea', and she can be quite gentle..... Forgot I had it til you said!! :T
elysia - summer house is a great idea, but will have to check with my parents - our house isn't big enough so would have to live at thiers! Maybe pop up would be the best solution as could then be in either house!
Kitchen - I was wondering about one of those, but wondered if she was a bit young? Maybe not.....
Thank you all for all your suggestions!! They're great! Also thinking of one of those small trampolines with a handle?? (for indoors!)
Mary - glad OH is home and slowly settling back to normal!
Hope everyone with court cases has positive news and arn't too stressed!
Clare x
Sorry hope u don't think I'm being cheeky, but just say be careful what type of trampoline you get for DD (if she has one), when Miss Hoodie was little we brought one you had to put together, got a small frame, it was a load of carp.... the bounce material was nothing more than a piece of tarpalin, and you had to get the tension absolutely perfect, the frame wouldn't go together, we had dad, + 2 neighbours on the kitchen floor trying to fix it, 4 hrs later, a few choice works it was returned as faulty!!
if you can get one thats already sprung, be a lot better.
Thinking of u earlier, had email from Wilkinsons kids summer toys were upto 75% off, online only. xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Will catch up properly over the weekend, were escaping to Devon, Miss Hoodie and me are some time together, bonding, support time, and hopefully some good weather, so i will be with u in spirit if not in body! xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0
