Hello all :j
Been to see OH this afternoon. What a carry on it all is. Last night he had xrays (doesn't know results) 2 doctors saw him then another one this morning. They think it might be colitis or maybe a bit of his stomach attaching itself to another bit -can''t work that out. So at the minute he's Nil by Mouth and starving he says but looks a lot better than when he went in. He's on a saline drip..........maybe he could bring one home with him .............lol
I mentioned to the nurse his ultra sound appt on Monday afternoon -thats to do with gall bladder so hope they'll keep him in long enough to get results of that. If is it colitis then it'll be treated with drugs but I'm not happy about the ''if''............I want a definite of whether its one thing or another.
Also mentioned to nurse about seeing a dietician. We've been eating what we though was a healthy diet but she says tomatos and cucumber are a definite 'no-no' after the op he had due to them having seeds in them and we've been having meat with fresh veg or salad ! Makes me wonder what else he's eaten that maybe he shouldn't have. Shes recommending that a dietician speaks to us anyway so we'll eat the right stuff.
Can't get in tomorrow as everyone I know with wheels is either out or busy with their own families so hopefully I'll relax in the garden. He's got his phone anyway -constantly ringing me up...........lol:rotfl:
Thanks for your kind thoughts........it means a lot and sorry for droning on about all this when I should be saying christmassy stuff.
Angela..............button bouquet ? Sounds interesting...................tell me more..........:)I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

Sounds very frustrating Mary, hope you get some answers soon.
I sorted my gift cupboard today and found a bag that I had put away without adding the stuff to the spreadsheet  So now all 2012 adult birthdays are taken care of, along with most of the 2012 adult Christmas gifts and I have a healthy spares box divided into men/women/kids and highlighted in grey if they were a gift to me so I don't return a gift to the giver. And I got 15 handmade Christmas cards for 55p plus 1.75 postage :money: I hope they're as nice as the ones on the picture and I don't have to pretend the baby and I made then :rotfl:Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76
Three gifts left to buy0 -
i have just found this thread and am lurking (would love to be dedicated and read from beginning but not enough hours in the day as it is). But i am posting in the hope someone can help me. I remember either last year or the year before someone posted about a gift which is a wallet type of thing for putting different money e.g. one bit for window cleaners money, one for the newspapers, ones for the cleaner. hope that makes sense. Can anyone help me please and point me in the right direction even if its only a name to search for - I know it is probably an american type gift but I've had no luck with searching.
Many thanks in advance:wave: Kate :hello:0 -
Hi all
Mary, thanks very much for giving us an update. I was surprised that anything was mentioned about a dietician because mum has diverticulitis and has often been in hospital and was offered food that I wouldn't have thought suitable but she could only manage liquids so had those special cartons. However, even her GP thinks it's ok to eat seeds etc. So you must be very lucky to have such enlightened staff in that hospital.
As to the button bouquet I have to say it wasn't my cup of tea, it looked like pipe cleaners with buttons attached put inside a vase.
I also saw an ordinary flat handbag in black transormed into something interesting after it was covered in buttons, glued on. I wouldn't have thought it would have looked nice, but it did.
I found them on a strange website, I'll add the link next time.
Sugarspun, you really are the organising Queen to be that prepared.
Welcome Nannyboo, Your wallet request, I wonder if it could be the collaged envelopes I make for my son, they are on different themes e.g money for cafe, money for clothes, money for icecream etc.
I do remember one time when I mentioned them, someone else put a link to their blog with gift envelopes and other papercrafts. Does any of this ring a bell for you?0 -
Santas Challenge
Its hard to believe its over half way through the challenges, only feels like yesterday was doing Nov/Dec challenges.
June's Challenge
Christmas Preperation - Presents, cards, etc
(rechecked list on computer, culled some names, wrote list for "personal cards - thou be Oct get them, theres cheap card shop we use in Devon, the plan also is to find the missing box of 800 xmas cards in loft, got plenty in, all paper, tags etc all done), i
Christmas Card List - Do I need to buy or craft any cards. How many do I need to post, (if poss see if can keep to standard posting). (just need to buy named cards, done the list ready, stamps be ok for postal survey).
Christmas Present List
Update and see who still needs present, and set budgets for them. (feels like a bit of double standards, we've culled the list, but now have added Irish side on, but be cheap and cheerful). Our estimated budget is £500 for xmas, where previous yrs we've extimated £1,000, £700, - def don't intend to spend that much)
Vistaprint tip - If your ordeing 4 freebies for a person or a family, have it sent direct to them, - esp if you would have to repost on.
For us - order for Irish Granparents, - get 4 freebies, then let them know package coming, on avergae worked out £1.00 dearer than Uk posting, whereas would cost £7 from P.O to them.
(with christmas list, worked out her we buy for from vista print freebies!!, and for Irish grandparents, and Miss Hoodies aunt + uncle in Wales - there have Vistaprint sent direct to them. (we're give them something small, but Vistaprint to the rescue)
Cleaning
Will try to be very gentle, but we have dad to blame for this one!! (his plans for 2mor!)
Clean the fridge - don't forget that lovely icebox.
The freezer.... hopefully as weve had a couple of freezer cleans, hopefully there won't be a build up of too much ice.
(darling daddy has cleaned the fridge, and is planning to do the freezer on Monday)
Christmas Tip
If you had to give one top christmas tip what would it be!!
Have an emergency present, for man, lady, + kids, - make sure its something you like / can use - so if you don't need it for a present not wasted.
Parents -
I know we've got about a month left at school, but it be the "best teacher", "teaching assistant", and if Miss Hoodie had her way, the whole school!! so if we can craft, or be very mse, we've got time to prepare.
(Teacher - having a Winnie the pooh mug (spare xmas prezzie), the TA - home made necklace)
Medicine etc
I apologise that its a medicine reminder, but thinking school hols coming up, everyone be panicing, and rushing to get mediciation in.
Prescriptions - Check to see how long your current order will last, do you need any extras for holidays....
Home Kit - Paracetamol, plasters, diarrohea tablets, rehydration sachets (or can use flat cola).
(for us 2 in 1 - Home bargains list, plasters etc, - small lunchbox with all those bits in, Devon in summer hols)
Prescription - Order in now, and note in diary to re-order 2 weeks before we go, any probs they've got time to sort it, as our GP (we've claimed him), he's leaving - as some of the meds he prescribed, gives us chance to iron out any probs (just incase).
Sorry another Parents one
Contact List, - check all contact numbers are up to date,
Emergency Kit - Have a few bits on standy for when the friend pops up to play, its rains and you get the I'm bored... for Miss Hoodie, I usually do something craftwise, (always try to have it ready for when her friend comes.
Contact List - Gone through all mobile phones, deleting, updateing etc, done list of numbers for Miss Hoodie he bf mums, and then the neighbours + uncle wrote all mobiles down and the number of the sites where we're staying for hols.
Emergency Kit - In hand, got couple "blue peter boxes", cover for tissue box, going to sew cover packet tissues (help!!), and got some print offs - they can paint or colour them in!! All cheap and cheerful, but kids love them, and can practice some craft ideas out on them!
Thought be good and check off what we've done on the list. xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -

TBH I have no idea as I say it may have been two years ago (where does the time go lol). If I remember correctly it was a smaller version of a expanding folder(used for keeping documents in) but made from envelopes with different sections for different people e.g. one labelled milkman, one labelled window cleaner, etc. Other than that I have no idea any links you may have will be greatly appreciated. Kate :hello:0 -
Hi Nannyboo - I am sure I remember you from these threads from ages ago. I seem to remember something like you are saying about but cant for the life of me remember what it was now xx0

Hi all
That wallet/expanding file - I'm wondering if it could have been Mary.

Thanks for the challenges mum2one will have a proper look in a mo as just been catching up.
Mary hope that dh is home soon, he must feel like he is never out of that place bless him.
Welcome to any newbies.
Had so much going on at home I have had to put christmas and birthdays to the back of my mind but hoping to get back on track next month. Fingers crossed!!!
Take care all

Hello all :j
Angela...........think I've gone off the pipe cleaners and buttons..............lol Purse with buttons sounds interesting though.
Wasn't me that made the doc.wallet thing........good idea that one -be interested in that
Well, the saga of OH......it goes on and on...........they moved him last night from the emergency admission ward to another one. Still Nil by Mouth until they gave him some toast and that was ok. So, doctor goes to see him, asks how he is, he says he felt much better, which he did. So doctor says he could go home around tea time when he's had some lunch. So he gets all geared up for coming home and I'm mad as whatsit ! :mad:Rang up the staff nurse and asked if the doctor could ring me and explain whats going on as so far no-one had told OH what had been the problem........only a lot of ''ifs'' and ''maybes''............not good enough.
And no dietician was mentioned either so prompted her on that.
OH has some lunch..........broccoli bake (broccoli probably the worst thing he could have picked but no-one said he couldn't and he enjoyed it. Then the stomach pains started again so nurse is now asking for the doctor to have another look at him.
He won't be back tonight thats for sure. Much as I want him home I'm relieved -at least he's in the right place and hopefully this will now get sorted out.
Lovely day and sat outside for a bit till I roasted and thought better of it.............later on maybe be better for me I think when it's a bit cooler.
Hope you're all ok:)I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !
