All this talk about years ago - but is it me or did our money go alot further?

    Hello all :j

susan - not sure about money years ago and whether it went further or not...........maybe there just wasn't as much choice around -well when I was young anyway............lol:rotfl:

Funny old day..........OH woke up 4am with stomach pains -again:eek: Gave him all the necessary medicine from last time but so far it's not helped that much though he did get up at lunchtime. If he's no better tomorrow I'll get the GP to call and see him.
Gardener chap came and put some of my evergreens in couple of chimney pots(poor things have been waiting for a new home since I got them) and transplanted a couple of strawberry plants.............hope they survive the move.
I re-potted a load of herbs that came yesterday -so tiny and not even in little pots so they were desparate to be moved on. They're just in pots for now till I decide where they'll go. Ran out of plant tags !! Ugghh !! So cross with myself for that........I know I had some but where they are who knows..........typical me !

    Hope you're all ok:)

    Hi everyone

Mary you are doing well with the planting, my OH came home with some hanging fuscias yesterday and was straight out putting them in the baskets so saved me a job today.

I managed to get a lot of sewing done yesterday while he was out. Have got my dad's quilt up to the hand quilting stage so getting excited about it now its looking more like a whole item. Also made a start on the final denim quilt.

    Hi guys,

mary - my OH in charge of planting so I dont touch those, I did have 3 pots on windowsill for herbs but think I`ve given one the kiss of death

rufus - sounds like your sewing going well, on a friday morning they have a quilting class near me, kind of a drop in centre thingy, I`d love to sew but cant even thread the machine. A friend did say shell come over and have a look ....have to drop a hint next time I see her, I might be able to manage squares. But me and sewing dint get on:eek:. Cant wait to see your finished articles.

Susan, worth a try if your friend will give you a hand. I do a bit of sewing nearly every day, not always on the machine, some by hand too but usually manage a bit.

My SIL rang last night, asked if I want to go to a quilt show in August with her, we went to one last year and there were some beautiful quilts there, gave me lots of ideas. She also is taking me to a cake show next Saturday, have to make sure I dont take too much money with me to that one lol.

    Hello all :j
Worked out roughly where all the herbs will go. Few years back we put 6 biggish pots together and put rows of bricks around them and put herbs in there -they soon grew so you couldn't see the pots. Lots of them died off this winter apart from curry plant and mint so I'll have to get gardener chap to put new soil in the empty pots and transplant the new lot.
Had grand ideas about putting an old garden chair out there and doing it myself but it's a daft notion........I'd still have to do a lot of bending and I've told gardener chap not to let me do it.........lol
Trouble is I get so bored and long to do something out in the garden. Oh well, maybe another day I'll feel a bit more 'flexible'........lol

    Hope you're all ok:)

Lol at £5.56 a week sound silly now doesnt it. When I left school I had a job in a John Lewis store in Brixton near where we lived. Worked Tuesday to Saturday ( had Mondays off as you had to work the Saturday), used to get £20 a week and had to give Mum £5 of it for living expenses. Had to pay bus fares out of it too.

I remember the Youth training schemes, was £20 for the 1st year and £30 for the 2nd year, I just remember my weekend job when was at college £1.50an hr at Wimpy, with those red dungarees.........

No probs your not being nosey, were being mone saving, - its the spend vouchers, eg spend £60 get £10 off, as long as there in the date and you meet the spend criteria at Tesco they take them.

Our money def went a lot further, I remember being 10 or 11, and going swimming with a £1.00, 30p to get in, 10p hot drink from machine, 10p crisps, does anyone remember snack like fish and chips, but savoury and sized like crisps, then 50p to get some chips on the way home, and the 10p mixture, if you were lucky once in a blue moon we'd be give 20p, and felt so rich, and the £1 notes.........
Miss Hoodie found it so funny, that one of the notes we had in dom rep was worth 40p....

    Hello all :j
Bit of a ''fed up'' day..............it's grey, miserable and raining on and off with the promise of more to come.
Oh well, at least one raised beds finished and planted up and looks ok so hoping next week will be fine and maybe, just maybe, it'll all get done.......:)

Keep trawling the internet for flat canvas slip on shoes till I'm going mind boggled.........there's so many but some aren't that cheap really or if they are they're not very good to look at.
    Maybe I'm just being a bit mean............lol:)

    Hope you're ok ........oh......suns just come out:T
