oh dear the natives are turning on each other, over parking spaces:rotfl:
while the bankers count their ill-gotten gains.
somehow i thought it would end up like this.:T

    has x factor gone off?
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

Neither are you. It's you're, not your. ;)
  • Perhaps I am alone in seeing some contradiction between the original posters user name and the nature of their enquiry?

No - I noticed that as well. As far as I can tell he hasn't been back either... so I am suspecting this is a windup!

Nor are you. This should read: "Don't really think you're in a strong position to lecture"!
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.

So what? The issue is whether or not your lease gives you the right to park in the car park which is presumably private not public land. It seems clear that anyone who owns the property has purchased a legal right to park at least one car there. It's not clear whether the owner can assign that right to the tenant, or it may be that owners only have to right to park one vehicle in the car park, therefore only one tenant per property can use the at a time. This isn't a class issue despite what some of you would like to present it as, it's a straight contractual issue where OP feels that some of his neighbours are depriving him of a contractual right for which he has no doubt handsomely paid to park in the reserved space which accompanies his flat or house. It is effectively no different to someone deciding to park on your drive, and most reasonable people would regard that to be antisocial and unacceptable.

What difference does it make if it is a tenant or owner. As you put it the problem would still be there if the flats were all owner occupied.

    ~~

What I suspect is the problem is that the flats do not come with a designated parking space so its first come first served. Hence why OP would be so keen to enforce the only 'title owner' can park in the space.

Still think its a worthless pursuit though. Can only give you aggro.
  • I love this thread the OP has started as it shows you what people are really like, even the supposedly helpful members.

Firstly, I sympathise with the OP as it is extremely frustrating when you have paid for something that you can't use. I live in a residential complex in London, where parking is limited to those who have bought a right to park. This was £20k. The fine detail (which the property developer didn't mention) was that they have sold more rights to park than actual parking spaces, even though not every flat got an option to buy a right to park. This obviously causes an issue if you don't get to park in the secure car park, even when you have paid £20k, forcing you to park on the streets around the complex, if you can find a space.

You get given a token to display in your car when you have a right to park but residents in my complex can also park more than one car in the car park as I notice walking through there are several cars that don't display a token.

This obviously infuriated one of the residents, as one Sunday morning, when I left to go to the gym, every single car along the street leading up to the complex had had it's windows smashed. I'll be honest and admit I laughed as these people were going to have a nasty surprise when they woke up that morning. If the car park wasn't secure, it would have been quite a few cars in the car park, but I didn't check to see if any cars got keyed.

Unfortunately, I don't think the OP can do anything as there are no serious penalties for car park space offenders. The offenders know this, that's why they take advantage. I'd suggest moving elsewhere, where you are guaranteed a place to park, if it is that important, otherwise sell your car and rely on public transport.

I guess I should also mention that I don't have a car nor a right to park, which some might think is stupid as I have a 3 double bed apartment, but I can afford a 100% loss. But before all you smart asses out there start saying I can give you the money, I still want to have an apartment!

Secondly, a moderator needs to send some warnings to some posters on this thread as there are blatantly posters trolling.
