How can I find out who my neighbours are and if they own their property?

Hi I am having some problems with a set of neighbours on my street. And I would like to find out who the registered owners are.

How can I do this and it there a free way to do it?

I need to look up 8 addresses.

Thanks

  • perhaps if you need to look up 8 adresses, it is not your neighbours that have the problem?
  • lol that was my first thought (sorry)

  • Its for a car parking dispute. ie. The neighbours all claiming that they have rights to park in the communal car park.

But I suspect most of them are renting but none of them are admitting to it.

Under the lease only the registered title owners have rights to the car park.

THe problem is none of us know who the neighbours are. I,ve tried asking someone who has lived there for 20yrs but he doesnt know.

Try the electoral register at the local council office, or
    The Land Registry for £4.

Not much of an answer to your question, but you are fine for the neighbours to park in the car park if they own their own house, but if they rent then you don't want them parking there?
  • Wow, it's no wonder you're in dispute with most of your neighbours if you are trying to argue 'points' like this with them.

I'm sure if they're renting, they haven't had the benefit of reading the finer points of the lease to see if they are permitted to park there.

Suppose you find out all of them are renting.
How are you going to enforce it?

    Erm...

The tenants use the same spaces....?

You know, the ones that they pay their Landlords for..............?

You might want to investigate that first - I've never heard of rights such as this not being passed on through the terms of the lease which the tenants will have signed. Tenants have exactly the same rights as their immediate landlord unless expressly excluded under the terms of their lease - which you'll never get to see.

Why do you think tenants don't get those rights? After all you're also a tenant according to your statements in this thread.

Possible, but I'd be surprised. The owners who have the rights to the car parking space can almost certainly pass on that right to their tenants.
