btw what was the total value of the vouchers they accepted?
It wasn't actually all that much as the items were all in the sale for silly prices. T-shirts were £1ea and pj's were £3.50 so a total of £7.50 with £7.45 in vouchers.
Now I know how easy it is I'm on a coupon lookout! ;D
Goes without saying if I find any good vouchers I'll let everyone know.Herman - MP for all!0 -
Okay, I know I'm being REALLY thick here, but bear with me.
Vouchers - you can basically redeem them for anything, not the products they're meant to be used against? Is that correct? How does that work?!
I hope it does, I'm off to try it tonight... wish me luck
TQOne day everything I earn will be mine and not the banks... ::rotfl:0 -
Yes that's about right.
Although as far as I'm aware you can't use doubles of the same voucher in one transaction without buying an equal amount of that item.
e.g. if you use one x £2 Durex voucher that's ok to use against your shopping without having to buy the actual condoms. But if you tried to use 2 or 3 of these vouchers, you would have to buy 2 or 3 packs of condoms.
I think that's right.
Only picked that example as that was the best money off voucher! ;D
I took one of each voucher I could find and as long as they sell it, they'll take the voucher. You don't need to go round the shelves checking everything - the till will either accept it or discard it according to whether they stock the item or not.
Good luck.Herman - MP for all!0 -
I have saved over £50 pounds on my shopping bill at Tesco over the last month - although I have had very inconsistant responses at the checkout.
I decided last week to email Tesco customer services about the voucher policy and specifically about internet vouchers. The response confirmed that
"With regard to coupons from brand name manufacturers, we are happy to accept one, even if you have not purchased the product. However, the coupon must be in date and Tesco must sell the item."
With regard to internet vouchers the email states that
"This also includes coupons printed from the Internet and these are accepted at all our stores."
I have now started my shopping by going to the Customer Services and speaking to the Duty Manager before I shop to clarify the situation (with my email in hand of course!!!) and have had no problem at the checkout (refering to the Duty Manager by their name usually convinces even the most sceptical cashier that the vouchers should be accepted).
The main area of contetion for the Duty Mangers - and I can understand that their concern is that they find it difficult - is to distinquish between internet and photocopied vouchers. I always offer to give them the web address where the vouchers can be found which usually is enough to convince them that they are internet vouchers.
Anyway thank you Alison for getting me started on this issue (my wife says that I am now obsessed with vouchers!!!) and I hope that we can continue to benefit from the power of sharing info through MSE!0 -
I have armed myself with the vouchers thanks to alison
and will be going to my local tesco's tomorrow. It is my first time with the vouchers and this is also my first post!! I feel I have to just check this out - it's really opened my eyes! ::) will let you all know how I get on later.

An earlier question was about whether these vouchers should be printed in colour. What do you do? Do cashiers become suspicious at black & white ones? But maybe B&W laser prints are more likely to scan.

welcome all the newbie's - your addiction starts here
The vouchers should be accepted black and white as they are proper internet vouchers - I think some of the new one are scanned in - but hey its worth a try.
I am about to email den as somebody has kindly emailed me with a £5 off voucher !!! ;D
There is no consistency about tesco taking vouchers and I will email mod 2 about the voucher saga again. Altought someone made the valid point that if we advertise this loophole Tesco may stop it all together.

Tesco Extra in Inverness would NOT take my vouchers today and they were proper manufacturers coupons and not internet ones. Asked if he'd take coupons - yes, no problem, says he. Asked how many he'd take - as many as I had as long as it didn't come to more than my shopping was worth. Fished out the vouchers out of my bag and he REFUSED them. Said I couldn't use them as I didn't buy the products. Explained to him they have taken them from me for the last couple of months and said no, they'd never taken them. He made quite a thing about it and my face was scarlet. Paid up and told him I'd ask at customer services. Queued there, only to be told that I had to buy the product to use a voucher. Said I shouldn't have ever had them accepted and this was the rule for the last 7 years. I am so annoyed with them - wish they'd make one rule - whatever it may be - and stick with it. Cathy can you help me any on this one as I know you live up in this area.If I had known then what I know now . . .
