I sugest we all e mail tescos and see what happens

ask them for clarification and if they have instructed ALL branches about it
as it seems to be different where ever you go

    SAFEWAY

Thank you for your recent enquiry.

I can confirm that Safeway policy regarding the acceptance of coupons, including Internet coupons, is as follows.

We accept valid date suppliers’ coupons for the purpose of merchandise, provided, that Safeway offer product from the named supplier.

A customer may redeem no more than six identical coupons from one supplier, unless he or she is actually purchasing the named product in quantities in excess of 6.

Coupons are not exchanged for cash. The total value of coupons redeemed must not exceed the value of the bill.

I trust that this information is helpful to you. Thank you for taking the time to contact us.

this still doesnt make it clear that you can redeem the coupon on goods you dont actually buy does it

I asked at safeway checkout today if they would take coupons for an item I hadnt bought

the girl said absolutely NO we had training on this 2 weeks ago and its a definite NO

so I showed her the e mail I printed out from safeway and she said

OH errm oh well Ill ask the manager

but he was in a meeting

so that was that but I will ask again and again and again

That e-mail is an old one!

Safeways changed their policy when Morrisons took over.

    The girl was correct!

You must buy the product to use any coupon.

I e mailed tesco and aske the following

would you please tell me if

A I must purchase the Item if the coupon is not from a tesco leaflet or
    book

B can I use downloaded from the Internet coupons

C can I use for instance, a farmfoods "spend £50 get £5 off " In tescos as ive
    been told

D will I be embarrassed again if I try to use coupons from the internet in
    Inverness Tescos again

    thank you

    to which they replied

On investigating this matter I was unable to locate any online coupons that
customers can download to use in store, there fore I would suggest that
coupons that are available online are purely for use on Tesco.com and not
    with in a Tesco store.

Should you have a money off coupon for a product, providing Tesco stocks
that product you can use the coupon with out buying that particular product,
however if you have 5 of the same product coupon and you would like to use
these all in the one shop you would have to buy 5 of the product that is
specified on the coupon in order to qualify.

Farmfodds coupons are not accepted in Tesco stores or on Tesco.com, the only
coupons that Tesco accept are Tesco coupons, sainsbury and safeways.

Should you require any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact
    us.

    Kind regards

so I would suggest you print that off and stand your ground when presenting coupons in tescos

I doubt if those scanned ones are going to work without a fight thoughj

nice to know we can use safeways and sainsbury ones in there though isnt it
