    What if like me, you use your OWN ID and passcodes and get access to someone elses accounts (in this case, my brothers).

    Plus Santander know the customers effected, fraudsters aren't thick.

    When you call them they tell you that your statement May or may not have been sent in error and that they have no way of knowing for sure.

    It is a specific batch of account numbers on a specific day that is affected not a list of customers.

    I only found out yesterday 7 months later that I may or may not be affected.

    The first letter they sent in December made it sound like I wasn't affected, and then the FOS told them it wasn't clear enough so they sent another letter spelling it out.

    1. If a hacker has your monthly statement he will have your Customer ID and quite possibly your name from it appearing in a transaction on your detailed statement.
    2. From your name it may be quite possible to deduce your personal detail like the name of your place of birth.
    3. Your customer PIN is only 5 digits and a brute force computer program run by the hacker on a fast computer could crack you PIN rather quickly.

    Sorry but thats just utter tosh.

    (1) The customer ID is not shown anywhere on anything.
    (2) Unless you get Mystic Meg on the case I don't see how.
    (3) The account would be locked after 3 failed attempts, and the chances of getting this one right + the previous 2 are about the same as a Chimpanzee typing out the works of Shakesphere on a typewriter.
