I wouldn't dream of staying any amount of time at my girlfriends house without trying to help her out with money. even though I only stay a couple of nights a week, as we live 100 miles apart.
yeah and be careful with the mortgage like Batchy says above, or he may try to claim half your house if you split up.Don't try to teach a pig to sing - it wastes your time and annoys the pig0 -
If you dont do it formally, and you charge him money then he may be entitled to a share of your house equity, not so important at the mo, as prices are falling, but if he is financially cute, it could bite you on the !!! in the long term.
Be careful what you wish for 450pm might be the least of your worries when he claims he has been contributing to your mortgage all this time and wants half your remaining equity to move out?
Trust me, this cost a fellow employee where I work over 22k... for 3 years of being there! And he didn't actually pay for anything at all!!

If you don't want to risk any possibility that he could try and make a claim on your property you should only have him contribute the additional 25% cost of the Council Tax bill and half of the utility and foods bills.
I think you realise now that this inconsiderate parasite either needs to move back to Mumsy or cough up his fair share. Easy to say and hard to do, I know but you do need to do this soon before he bleeds you white.0 -

Why not set up a tenancy agreement for him if he pays rent? How does that then entitle him to a share of the property if hes a tenant??0 -
You can't set up a tenancy agreement when the owner of the property lives on the premises. The only way to protect one's interests would be to have a lodger agreement but that might not fly because they are a cohabiting couple.0

Tell him it might be time that you spent time at his ;o)))
To tell you the truth if he stays there so often and has meals then he should either offer to help with the food bills or at least take you out one night a week for a nice meal in a nice restaurant (this does not include KFC, !!!!!! King or McShit)
But as others mentioned maybe its time to show him the Spanish Archer (el Bow) and go back to single person occupancy on the council tax and just tell him he can't stay over that often.0 -

As for the 4 showers a day, he showers that often as he is a Boot Camp Trainer and he comes here after each class to shower and change.
Will he be expecting to continue to use your place for its facilities after your new lodger moves in? His bathroom hogging capacity and frequent visits won't be very desirable to the actual paying occupier - living with a couple can be awkward for some house-sharers because of the dynamics of their relationship, privacy issues and pressure on the cooking/bathing facilities.
The Landlordzone website is a very good source of advice on how to find and screen suitable lodgers, information about how the Rent a Room scheme works, templates you can purchase for the lodgers agreement, inventory and so on, tips for house rules and so forth.
As long as you find a decent lodger, you should enjoy the extra disposable income this will leave you with. If they work similar hours to you, this means your heating costs will reduce as I assume the boyf is around when you aren't and pops it on.0 -
