I hear from one of the City Link guys that City Link have picked up the whole Amazon contract from 1 January.

I'm guessing that's not entirely correct, but even if it's only partially true it's good news from my point of view - I've always found them to be excellent round here (including the stuff delivered this morning that only left Amazon yesterday). If it's stuff that Royal Mail/Parcelforce would have handled before 1 January, I'm not at all surprised, given their recent performance. They've only got themselves to blame. More lost jobs for Royal Mail staff, more moaning on from Billy Hayes of the CWU, and nobody seems to have the commonsense to realise that they're actually destroying their own jobs and livelihoods. Very sad.

I hope not City link lost my daughters tv which was her main pressie (Thanks City link) which was in there hands on Dec 17th and delivery on 21st

They wont answer phone or reply to emails 2 days old

City link are useless and there tracking system is at least over 6 days to old

I would drive to there dept if it wasn't in a stupid place near Northallerton rather than York or Leeds which is usually way parcel come to us, I doubt they could find it anyway at least Amazon are apologetic over this but I am not happy that city link are so rubbish

I'm including the managers in that. And there are no staff shortages in this area - the local postmen confirm that, but blame the local managers for the chaotic mess that they're in.

It was a management decision, apparently, not to allow postmen to deliver to this area (and we're not in the middle of nowhere) for a whole week recently. Everybody else delivered normally - only Royal Mail gave up. Even now there's mail outstanding from more than two weeks ago!

So you issue is the weather handling?
as for staff shortages.Ive yet to hear of RM offices that are fully staffed now
my old office got no extra staff for xmas and are already 10+ staff down in vacancies (excluding any sickness)
where we are we have been getting some deliveries.
no bin collections and taxis refuse to enter the area.
plenty of folks moaning but very few out clearing paths/roads

edit: to add.you may feel the roads/paths are safe but who is at risk?
2 days ago ,one of the guys at my old office had a fall on delivery
phoned in the next day and was told to come in or he wouldnt get sick pay.
came in and said he wasnt fit.was told the same line.
worked on and collapsed in the office an hour later face first at the sorting.
he has confirmed broken ribs plus some nice facial injuries now
theres plenty of reports of broken limbs and bad falls coming through

    I hope not... City Link tracking for a recent purchase of mine;

17th Dec Delivered signed for by 'white door' at 04.05
20th Dec Loaded onto van for delivery (they didn't make it here though)
20th Dec These goods are in our network
21st Dec These goods have been loaded onto a van for delivery today

No updates on the actual delivery of course because a very clever 'white door' supposedly signed for it the week before

does it have a tracking number?
most likely it will come by RM when it hits the UK

Yes I have a tracking number. Not happy to be honest, I ordered it last Monday (13th) and they said estimated delivery of the 20th. It's still saying it's in Belgium, so that's a Christmas present which won't be here in time

IIRC we had a similar issue with a Wii sing game last year coming from Germany
