amazon prime free trial delivery - last minute orders ?

I ordered a dvd box set last week & I'm a Prime member & amazingly it arrived the next day via Citylink, although strangely they posted it through the letterbox rather than knocking & asking for a signature.
Unfortunately I know why, when I picked it up it rattled
When I opened it tiny bits of plastic fell everywhere - the plastic casing on the dvd case had shattered completely, almost like someone had been smashing it with a hammer, or a lot of very heavy items had been put on top of it.
The most annoying thing is that I received it in plenty of time, but thanks to Citylink's ineptitude I now won't be able to give it as a christmas gift
The exact same thing happend to me on Monday . There was a big huge footprint on mine. I just cancelled but had to que up at post office to return the item. I asked Amazon to complain to the courier as it was obvioulsy damaged when he delivered and I would have not signed for it.
Prime is rubbish at this time of year- normally great .I suggest using the free trial once the snow is cleared and nearer to a time when u will get the most use of it .
Agree Royal mail pants, but I think most of the delivery companies have issues- dhl make me shudder. I think there needs to be a huge shake up and review of the delivery companies in the Uk to see how they should get their act together.0 -
Prime is rubbish at this time of year......
Too true. £49 a year, and they didn't even despatch the things I ordered yesterday, even though they were all in stock. One of the items was ordered at 8am too!
If they can't even manage to send things out on the day they're ordered it doesn't say much for Amazon Prime! :mad:0 -
Not worth paying if they do this, i certainly wont signup when its due again if that is the case.
It's true sadly, go and look, PRIME is one day delivery now = First Class.
If you want gt'ed delivery, next day by 1, so SD it's £4.49 extra. It's slowly being phased out, some depots are still issuing it but won't be forever.
So no, I'm not renewing either.0 -
Is 'Tracked' basically 'Signed For' (Recorded Delivery) but without the need for a signature on receipt? So the postman records it as having been delivered, even though he just leaves it on the doorstep?
I received a 'tracked' parcel by RM the other day but it wasn't a recorded/signed for. Had the removable barcode strips - I haven't seen this kind of thing before. I presume it is just so the sender knows where it's at.0 -

no.its a fully PDA tracked service. it also covers safeplace. so an item can be left safe if the sender denotes as such.I dont think its even that at some points - RM can track any item through their system, from the bar code thats given to a parcel, they just dont update it in real time as I understand it. So when you report an item missing thats how they track it......but it can take several weeks.
where do you get that idea from?0 -
Marks and Spencers use the tracked service, the post person just scans it when they hand it to you. Dont see the point myself.0

Bit worried now! Where is this info, I can see nothing on their site? On the Prime info page it doesn't mention it anywhere: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html/ref=prm_su_lmdtinkerbell28 wrote: »It's true sadly, go and look, PRIME is one day delivery now = First Class.
Or in their Prime t&c's: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html/?nodeId=200198240 It still says Prime = one-day delivery except for items not eligible, which is how it's always been?
I've been an amazon prime member for 2 years now and have never had any problems with delivery. Saying that I ordered all my Christmas presents by 6th December so maybe if I had left it later I could still be waiting for stuff! I've only ever had prime things sent first class when I have selected first class as an option instead of one-day delivery, things like cds that I know will fit through the letterbox and I don't want to have to stay in to sign for.DFW by end of June 2016...! I don't have Prime (I had the trial but found the wait time seemed the same as with free del) but paid for next day delivery on a few things at the beginning of last week and am quite miffed that they still aren't here when I have had free deliveries from Play, the Hut, Body Shop, HMV, all ordered at later dates than Amazon but delivered. I am going to write and ask for a refund of postage.0
