amazon prime free trial delivery - last minute orders ?

I placed an order on the 8th, apparently dispatched on the 10th, and im still waiting. My postman was still waiting for his amazon parcel (when i questioned him about if he had mine), and seems to think amazon are having problems..... dont know if this is true. An item i ordered off ebay last week, came snail mail, and arrived today. Amazon are usually brilliant, and reliable, im just glad this wasnt my only xmas gift, although it won't be quite the same after xmas. I think they will be hard pushed to get it delivered (along with everyone elses) before xmas. If no-one is guaranteeing xmas delivery, what makes my parcel any different to ones ordered in the past few days now!?!0

I have had loads of stuff go missing with Royal Mail this year.
So far -2 boxes of chocolates from Hotel chocolat -one sent on 29th November and a replacement sent on the 16th December.
I feel so embarressed if i have to ring them and say the second box hasn''t arrived either !
Also 2 dvds have gone missing, posted beginning of December from Amazon -given up on any of these items ever turning up at all .:mad:0 -

That's exactly right. I've been signed up to Prime for nearly 3 years now, and although things usually turn up the following day it's by no means guaranteed.
If they use a courier it's usually fine, but Royal Mail (which they usually use) has been extraordinarily unreliable.
There seems to be no logic in which service they use. £149 Kindles frequently go out using ordinary Royal Mail, but we've had single DVDs costing less than £5 come via City Link.
I ordered an expensive electrical item on the 16th, estimated to be here on the 21st (Sat) - still not here (OH's Xmass pressie!). Apparently it's just coming normal Royal Mail, no tracking or Special Delivery (are they mad!). Also a dvd which is estimated for the 24th (yeah right...that's not going to happen). Then on Sat I ordered myself a book (no rush, I don't expect it 'til next year), estimated delivery 30th Dec Supersaver delivery - arrived on Tuesday!! (2nd class).0 -

I can understand everyones frustrations but people should just be grateful that at this time of year and in these freezing conditions, you have a roof over your head, your warm, have food in your belly and you have loving family around you. There are 1000's of men, women & children in the UK and around the world who don't have these things which we so easily take for granted.
Erm 'scuse me but I am well aware we are very lucky. Personally I donate my time and expertise right through the year (not just Christmas) to help vulnerable groups, as well as working and paying taxes to help those worse off than myself.
I realise that you are not having a go......honest I do
but you quoted me in your post, so just wanted to address it!
Just needed to have a rant I think lol, and our postie is fab, rang the sorting office yesterday and they are running almost 24 hours round the clock to get stuff sorted and out to us, the backlog is at the big mail centres, not local.Free/impartial debt advice: Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) | National Debtline | Find your local CAB0 -

Not worth paying if they do this, i certainly wont signup when its due again if that is the case.0 -
I dont think its even that at some points - RM can track any item through their system, from the bar code thats given to a parcel, they just dont update it in real time as I understand it. So when you report an item missing thats how they track it......but it can take several weeks.Free/impartial debt advice: Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) | National Debtline | Find your local CAB0
