My Dad got himself a xmas job at Amazon, he says they have been laying off a lot of workers because people aren't ordering as they don't believe they will get orders due to the weather...

This ia a real shame. I guess the weather has really hit amazon hard, I remember last year their service was excellent. It appeared they had teams working 24 hrs to ensure items were despatched and delivered before Christmas.

My boyfriend ordered a Kindle on Tuesday the 14th and it explicitly said he wouldn't have it for Christmas with super saver delivery, but he got it on Monday. He lives in Essex, I guess it's how close you are to a warehouse!
  • Dont for God sake rely on getting anything from Amazon for Xmas now. Lots of people having been waiting ages for stuff. Myself since December 17th since its been with citylink

You'd think they would get more orders due to the weather with people stuck at home needing pressies.

One of my orders from the 6th will not be arriving for christmas and i have been told they will re-issue it for delivery after christmas...wonder where it is? Amazon did dispatch it on the 9th due the 14th.

    So not amazons fault really.

Sorry but I do feel it is Amazons fault. I fully acknowledge the weather but different delivery companies are responding in vastly different ways. Amazon choose the delivery companies. They really need to review how they have performed and allocate future contracts on the basis of these results.

Absolutely agree with you. A load of Amazon stuff is stuck in the post, and I'm waiting for things from all over the place that I know were posted days and days ago, First Class.

Royal Mail have been disastrously bad this year - we had no deliveries for a whole week, when every other company (including paper boys and girls on their bikes!) was delivering normally. They just gave up altogether and didn't even try to deliver, despite being issued with snow and ice grips for their shoes. That applied to a large area round here, and I hear from local postmen that there are vast quantities of mail sitting in warehouses undelivered from several days ago.

I was a stout defender of Royal Mail against privatisation until recently, but not any more. Only privatisation is going to sort them out now. Sad, but, I think, true.

I`m in the same situation...waiting for something dispatched on 9th due 14th. When were you told it would be re-issued ? I`ve emailed but heard nothing !

I'd agree with that, too - the sooner they ditch Royal Mail altogether the better!
  • I dont think RM is always to blame. My parcel isnt even coming from them. i did get a small parcel today from RM things appear to be coming from RM abet slowly, remember everyone is busy and weather wont help.

I emailed them on the 16th after post had been and then they replied 19th and told me to wait until the 21st and told me that i can reorder but it will not be here for xmas or i can have a full refund.

I bought from Amazon because it was free delivery and cheaper than anywhere else. So i emailed them back to say re-issue and i'll give an IOU to my BIL :o
