There are many landlords that may be willing to consider a 5 year tenancy. How many tenants want that though?
Most of those with families and children at school. It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -

I wouldn't be as against it if tenants had a lot more rights than they have now, if you could sign long term rent agreements then I would consider calling a rented place home. But with the current system I could never call a rented place home as i could be kicked out quite quickly becuase the landlords mate wants it.
As mentioned my whole life is on hold as I am not having children until we have a place to call home, and rented accomodation can never be called home in my eyes.Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017

I think someone needs to chill a bit.The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
I think someone needs to chill a bit.
Why?
I am in a great mood today, my two sisiters are taking me to the west end to see a show tomorrow night, and tonight i am being taken too dinner by someone who i have recently been seeing, business is good, and i am in great health.
I just hate BTL and most of the reptile landlords out there, whats the problem?0 -

How many have you met?The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
Everyone should have their own home thats fine. For every addition home people own they should have to pay a £10k a month upkeep tax - if they inherit a house they should not be charged the £10k a month for 3 years unless they start renting it out.
This would end buy to let.
Those who want to start official buy to let business (like proper companies) should have to apply to the government to get a licenese and be regulated strictly.
Tenants rights should be increased. There should be no deposits - it should be a risk people take when renting that someone looks after their property - after all you should expect some things to go wrong in a house surely. Landlords shouldnt be able to come and go to a rented house as they please. If they let themselves in without recieving written permision from the tenant then the tenant should be able to treat them as a home invader and take all necessary action to stop the invader. After all, if I am renting a place it is my place not yours even though you own it.
I had a LL who sent round decorators to the flat I was in one day. They didnt warn me, I regret letting the decorators in because I didnt want a challenge. Now I would have said they cant come in and would of prevented it as much as possible from taking place. One that property I lost 10% of my deposit for "scuffs around the light switches". It was as if they thought any slight degradtion to the property from me living in it for 2 years was going to come out of my deposit despite the fact I had paid for it for 2 years. My options with this BTL LL were to 1, get into a fight about £100, or 2, just forget about it and be annoyed. I decided option 2 because I doubted I would be succesful anyway.
This left me wondering if its worth treating a property you rent well as they will find something ridiculous that is simply ware and tear and deduct your deposit anyway. So you might as well just treat the LL property like they all treat you - like trash and an inconvenience. Mind you I would always treat it well because of personal pride and general christain spiritI am not a financial expert, and the post above is merely my opinion.:j0 -

Now behave yourself and just make sure your rent is paid on time or your bags will be out on the street.
I liken them to the nobels in the 1500's. They own all the land and exploit the people for their own ends. All whilst their little racket is protected by the establishment (i.e. high interest rates despite inflation spiraling out of control).I am not a financial expert, and the post above is merely my opinion.:j0
