Thanks Beckyy I will look into this :D

I've had some refunds from the water and TV Licence from my old house so they have been sent to my mortgage account. So that's another £100 off the balance :)

I have now got the facility to look at my mortgage online and this is really inspiring me to get it paid off. It reminds me of when I had my credit cards! So I will have to get my thinking cap on and come up with ways on how I can blitz this mortgage as my lottery numbers didn't come up last night lol!.

Better get on with some painting outside whilst the weather is still nice.

I have had some more refunds from British Gas and the Council Tax so I have been able to send another £100 to the mortgage today :)

The balance is now £83500.00 (until they apply this months interest and take off this months payment)

Its so exciting to see the total coming down, really motivated by the online banking facility and my new spreadsheet - it would be nice to have more money to throw at the mortgage but that's me just being really impatient!!

That's my ramblings for today - TTFN xx

After applying my interest and taking the monthly payment, the balance was £83277.41 so I have sent another payment of £77.41 to round it down to £83200.00.

This months total overpayments were £345.47 :D Don't think I will be able to beat this again but I can try!

I went shopping yesterday at Aldi and used the £5 off £40 spend. So I am trying to get back into my old ways of money saving. I went to Sainsbury's for some things I couldn't get out of Aldi and they gave me £6 off £40 spend so I will be doing my shopping there next week! I have put the money I have saved into my moneybox and any money that is in there at the end of the year will be sent to my Mortgage Account.

    See you next Month

  • Onwards and Downwards - it was good to catch up with your diary again. I'm also 'back on the wagon' so to speak. I haven't been really really bad but the last year has definately been a bit sloppy as far as cutting out money waste is concerned. I've also picked up a four legged companion so the money is going to be going down a lot faster with his help!

It didn't take long to start neglecting diary again lol!

Thanks for posting SSS - lovely to hear from you , glad I am not alone in falling of the wagon :p! I am getting back on slowly just trying to get hubby to join me too.

Oh well I'm here again with my update:-

I have still been rounding the payments down at the end of each month and balance at the end of October currently stands at £82600 :)

Have claimed £15 T0luna, £10 VO & £20 MS vouchers for doing my surveys. I'm so close to a payout for YG - which I will send straight to the mortgage pot. I also have a lot of cash back waiting to be paid out for Quidc0 wish it didn't take so long to payout

We have invested in a kettle so that we can start heating the water on the log burner rather than using the electric kettle. The kettle goes on the rayburn on a morning and we fill a flask with the hot water so that my hubby can have hot drinks while he is still at home during the day (he currently unemployed) I am now looking into buying a casserole dish so that I can cook stews this way too but in the meantime I have my slow cooker and that is cheap to run.

We are slowly building up a "snowed in" stock so if we should get stuck in for a few weeks we will have some things in the cottage to live off until we can get back out.

Hope to be back with an update before xmas

    Take care everyone xx

The months are certainly rolling by.............But I will definitely be glad to see the back of this year 2013 has certainly lived up to its name in my home.

Not much to tell you this month - its been pretty quite here.

This month I sent an overpayment of £100 to my mortgage thought I would be different and send a round figure this month.

I'm due a pay out from Quidc0 of £25 and I finally redeemed my £50 on Y0uG0v. So this will do to the mortgage in December when it hits my account.

Wow can't believe the year is nearly over!

My overpayment to my mortgage this month is £175.00, this is £100 of loose change I have gathered over the year and £50 Y0ug0v and £25 Quidc0 payout. So my mortgage stands at approx. £81800.00 (waiting for final figure to show online) this is just below my £82k target I set so I'm chuffed with this :D

I have set myself another target of £78k for next year but not sure how I am going to achieve this yet as I won't be able to make the overpayments I have been making now. But I am up for the challenge.

I would like to wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy new year.

    Take care xxx

    Hi everyone

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year, seems like a distant memory now.

Not much to report this month I'm afraid. An additional £50 overpayment was sent to the Mortgage today from £20 redeemed from survey site and £30 for doing a loading job.

Finally got a £30 payout for a survey I done 15months ago, just in time to replace the electric heater that died a dramatic death.

Still ploughing through the surveys but don't seem to be completing many these days - I always seem to be screened out :(
    Gotta keep trying!

Got nothing lined up for an overpayment in February so better get my thinking cap on. Money is very tight at the moment due to my husband being out of work.

    Morning Everyone

Hope you are all well. After a quiet February , March was quite busy!

I managed to overpay £150 in March, mainly due to an £80 payout from Quidc0, £40 payout from 0nepoll and £30 in expenses that I had claimed. My balance is now £80947.47.

I'm hoping to overpay £50 this month due to £30 from MSurvey payout and £20 in loose change that has been bagged up and paid into bank.

I also redeemed £15 LTS Vouchers from T0luna and £10 Sainsbury giftcard from V.0pinions (these will be kept aside to help with the costs of xmas)

Sold my car too as we cant afford to keep it, but I will be saving this money (£900) for the moment.

I have also opened a 123 account with Santander, I worked it out that I could get £150 interest a year from the current account and about £60 cashback from the credit card.
I already have a Halifax reward account so I have been moving things around so that I can get the best out of both accounts. Omg my brain hurt lol!

I wish I could spend more time on these forums catching up with everyone's diaries as you are all an inspiration.

I managed to overpay £100 this month in the end. Didn't realise I had already bagged up another £50 in change and stashed it in my drawers! So my overpayment consisted of £30 survey payout and £70 in change :)

Have now re-arranged all my banking to get the most out of my accounts. I already got £6 interest this month on the savings, it will be a bit more next month when the direct debits start going out. I'm due to be paid this week so lets hope all my calculations add up. I'm so paranoid I have missed something!

We have booked a break in the Lake District for Whit Week. Found a lovely B&B and there will be plenty to keep us occupied. Hoping to keep the whole cost to £500. Really excited, never been before but been told we and the dog will love it (we are outdoorsy people)

Sold a few items on a Facebook selling page and got £16. This will go towards the cost of boarding the cat whilst we are away (got another £25 to find)

Trying to cut out ALL unnecessary spending and so far so good! Got hubby's friend and wife coming to stay this weekend so trying to think of a freebie/low cost day out.

TTFN and hope to see you in May as I have no overpayment planned at the moment :(
