Baileys MF Diary

Another long time lurker coming out of the woodwork :o

I have been following the diaries on here for some time now and I want to start my own ramblings!

A little bit about me I remortgaged in April 2009 to buy out my ex. The mortgage started at £94,749 fixed for 2 years at 4.19% and currently has 28 years 3 months left. In addition to this I had an £8k loan to cover the shortfall of the original mortgage as my lender wouldn't give me the full amount.

I been overpaying my mortgage when I can and have overpaid £1850.00 since I started and my balance is approx £90,221.

I have just transfered my loan (was 9.9%) to a credit card (5.9%) for the life of the balance and I am concentrating all my efforts to clearing this now. My current balance is £5177.

I am going to use this diary to log my attempts at clearing my mortgage/credit card debt. I haven't really set any goals, just going to pay off what I can when I can.

Off to update my signature so I can see my progress.

Thanks for dropping by :)

Thank you for the welcome :)

Today has been productive, I have been looking at ways to pay off this credit card sooner as I don't want it hanging round my neck and I want to start making in roads on my actual mortgage. So I have:-
    • I have applied for another credit card and managed to get a £3k credit limit at 0% for 15months, so I will do a balance transfer to the other credit card when it comes through.
    • I finally got £50 from the Halifax from opening an account with them in Sept! so this will be transfered to the credit card along with £10 reward payments
    • I've bagged up £42 in loose change and this will be banked with £45 in notes then paid off the credit card.
This leaves £30 to bring the balance to £5k, would like to do this before the end of the year so better get my thinking cap on to raise this in the next few days!

Well I have hit the sales today and I'm very pleased with my purchases!

I have brought 24 presents, cards inc individual ones, gift tags, crackers and it has only cost me £21 - Whoo hoo! :j so I have christmas more or less "wrapped up" for next year (I only have 7 more presents to buy).

I'm a bit sad and have calculated that all this stuff would have cost me £157 at full price, but with all the sales/discounts it should have been £76 and as I used points/vouchers saved throughout the year I only used £21 of my hard earned cash :D so I'm feeling a little smug lol! I hope that you have all been able to find some fab bargains in the sales too.

On a MFW note, I found the extra £30 (a planned day out that I had budgeted for was cancelled due to poor weather and as it was a one off and can't go again I used this to put to my credit card) and I have now transferred the £177 to my credit card so my balance is now showing £5k :)

Hope you are all enjoying the festive break, I have been very busy the last few days so haven't been able to catch up with the diaries but hopefully when I'm back at work next week I will find out what you've all been up to ;)

    Take Care x

I had a new mobile for xmas and as part of the "deal" had to spend £10 on a PAYG sim to get the phone as I am on a SIM only contract

Today I have called my network provider to see if I could transfer the £10 from the PAYG sim card to my SIM only account so that I don't have to pay my bill one month. They were unable to do this but gave me £5 off my next bill anyway as a goodwill gesture. Since then my sister has said she will buy the sim card from me :).

I have also sent my old mobile away to be recycled and will be paid £13 (it was a dinosaur but I loved the phone so much!) I also got £1.50 Quidco too.

So when I have been paid for all of these things that will be another £29.50 off my credit card bill - yay!!
