Brilliant moneysaving - especially next year's Christmas shopping! Wish I had that energy to do mine..... Well done,
SquirrelPaid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0 -
Sale shopping is something i never seem to manage at the best of times. I should try and get to some shops for some cards and wrapping paper at the very least. I know we used loads of ours up. I haven't bought any for the past couple of years though so it can't be helped.0

Baileys, welcome to mfw. I love the name:D
It sounds like you started in a similar situation to me, I started with some CC debt to clear before starting on the mortgage. I finally cleared all the debt at the start of this month and next year the focus will be the mortgage.
Well done on the sales bargains, it sounds like you have done really well. I can never quite get myself organised enough to buy to many presents in the sales although I did manage to get a couple this year.:A
Good luck with it all, although the progress you have already made shows you probably won't need it!!Mortgage @ 01.06.10 £165,999Mortgage @ 31.10.13 £14,6640 -
Welcome and good luck

 Happy New Year fellow MFW's
Not much been happening here, not sure if that is a good or bad thing?!?
The 0% card came through and the balance transfer has been done, so I can now tackle the £2.3k on the 5.9% card while I just pay the minimum on the 0% card. I'm hoping to clear this by the time the 0% runs out in March 2012.
My normal £100 mortgage overpayment has gone out so I will ring them at the end of the month for my balance, I'm getting impatient as I wasn't able to call them in December due to the holidays and I'm desperate to know how much it is so I can update my spreadsheet! (so sad
).
I've been messing about with my spreadsheets and if I keep up the overpayments on mortgage and minimum payments on cards then at the end of the year I will owe approx £89.5k. I have decided to set myself a little target to get this to £88k - it may not sound much but its a lot of money when you are single and on a low income.
Anyway, good luck to you all with your goals for 2011 and may it be a good year for you all

Good luck Baileys, I too bought my ex out of the house and am still paying what I owe him whilst trying to op m, pay off car loan etc, when my loan has gone I hope to start paying off extra on the m as it all helps. Its just a slow process though but keep at it.

Thank you all for your replies its nice to know I'm not alone!
I've been looking into fixing my mortgage again when my current deal expires in March (at the moment my rate would change to 2.29% + base rate at the end of March) and my current mortgage provider has offered me 3.49% fixed until April 2013. After alot of careful thought and especially with the uncertainty over base rates I thought 0.7% was a small price to pay for security. Today they have offered me a mortgage in principal and I don't have to wait until my current deal expires in March I can move on to it straight away - Happy Days :j
I've also been accepted for another 0% card so I will transfer the remaining balance off the 5.9% card when that comes through. That should save me a few more pennies in interest. Have paid £200 off the credit card this month which was a combination of normal payment, loose change, phone sale and some overtime.
I won't be making overpayments on the mortgage for a couple of months as I going to be replenishing my savings as I borrowed some money to pay for the arrangement fee on the new deal (£199).
Looking forward to next month to see how these changes affect my budget and spreadsheets.
