I've just noticed the names of the funds in your sig, Souk - buffer, cultural and holiday - fab! I really like it. Thats a big buffer fun - are you still in debt or not, because Martin has a thing about people who aren't self employed building chunks of savings before they pay off debt .... I just wondered .

KC, I do still have a loan that I pay off but basically Mum and Dad bailed me out and then I so, so stupidly ran up another bit of debt, which I now pay as a loan every month and they know nothing about. The buffer was my idea as my job is up in October and it means that they wont have to help yet again if I have to move cities or whatever for work. I KNOW I should pay the debt first but in this instance I have to keep my buffer going so that I can move without having to ask for help or take a CC, which I no longer have. By October the buffer should be at £2400. If I don't have to use that for anything I can then go to Oz to see my sis with it. I might look at paying back the loan early but it doesn't have that long to run and ticks over so for me, this is working. X

If only my bottom was bigger you could mistake me for Nigella today!

I have: Done 2 loads of washing
    Cleaned the bathroom
    Stripped the bed
Been to my fishmonger for smoked haddock and mussles
Cooked Nigellas lush and really easy mussels in cider for tea
Returned some shoes to M and S and got the £19.50 back
Went to my biggish Tesco for baking stuff
    Bought basics in Aldi

    Still to do:
Iron clean bedding and put it on :rotfl:
    Hoover
Bake chocolate ornage muffins from the recipe on Grocery challenge
    Do up dishes
Finish cider not used in dinner whilst enjoying Gok
    Iron work clothes for tomorrow.

I spent £4.20 in Aldi, £5.13 in Tesco and £2.44 at the fish man

Tesco had lovely Muller yoghurts 4 for £1 and the deal was due to end today so I bought 8 as I always have yoghurt at lunch at work. I also got the baking stuff there.

Well lots to do still so I'll get on. X

    Ooh, those mussels sound deeeeeelish!!!

  • I love the sound of the mussels, will definitely check those out!

I have the same feelings about the buffer. As a single girl with an old house that needs stuff doing/doing up, I am very keen to get mine built up to about a grand just in case. Again, I have debt too, but if my boiler goes or something else pops up, most tradesmen I know don't accept credit cards! :D

It's a difficult balance though. Sounds like things are working well for you and I too love the idea of a cultural pot!

Cultural pot is supposed to be for theatre or arty bits. I will be spending it this month on doing the galleries in Edinburgh on my next Saturday off. X

Muffins are absolutely amazing. CBA to iron tonight so I'll just pop my sheet on tonight and iron in the morning. My area manager is up so I will feed her muffins and hope she doesn't notice that I haven't done my rotas!
