In any case, they haven't. http://www.18185.co.uk/index2.phpTime has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -

1p a minute is for 18185 non indirect access eg 0808 or 020 access and its been 1p a minute for yonks.

I am looking for access numbers to turkey mob from landline Talk talk. None have been working recently, think it may be due to Olympics??
when I use the access 0844 2003535 or 4545 it gives the normal message of rates at 0.50ppm then it says dial an 08717728585 at 6 or 7ppm
What going on? why are none of these 0844 numbers not working?
anyone know the route for talktalk access direct numbers and how cheap they are?0 -
Referring to sailorchief's message of 4.8.12, I can confirm that 18185 have doubled the cost of calls to USA landlines, i.e. from 0.5p per minute to 1p per minute (I discovered this when ringing my father there recently). I am not at all happy about this. I checked their website and found that they haven't increased their charges to call mobile numbers in that country (which are 0.5ppm). I think it's very odd that they have chosen to increase the landline calls but not mobiles. I would like to ask them why they have done this, but find it impossible to contact them. Does anyone know how I can do this, please?0

You could always use a different supplier. Who doesnt raise a connection charge like them.

Details on where Finarea hang out can be found at http://www.manta.com/ic/m9p0fld/ch/finarea-sa
For email addresses you might want to try Igor.Tracchia@finarea.ch and service@finarea.ch I have had email responses to queries from both these email addresses at Finarea in the past.0 -
Many thanks, NonGeographicalMan, for your reply. I will contact Finarea.0

Dear NonGeographical Man,
I have sent e-mails to both addresses you kindly informed me of, but no-one seems to want to respond. Any other ideas, please?0 -
Hi TL,
Not sure if anyone has already said, but their address is (according to their www site):
Finarea SA
PO Box 5648
6901 Lugano
Switzerland
They run at least 2 systems that I am aware of - 18185 and 1899 - both of which I use, and probably more.0 -

So neither email address bounced back as not existing then?
They do read the emails (or at least they do if you try a suitably dramatic subject line) but it takes quite a lot of persistence to get them to reply.
Their general approach towards dealing with customer complaints is somewhat similar to that of Ryanair although like Ryanair the basic service does normally tend to work and get you to your destination most of the time.0
