Dont use Tesco they cancelled 127 deliveries yesterday in my area.....yet their vans were speeding past the houses they cancelled. I think they overbooked.

Order fom tesco last week had lots of things suddenly 'unavailable', and their substituions are known for being a bit loopy.

I thought I had been lucky and managed to get an asda home delivery for the 22nd Dec for my big christmas shop. I had to get it within hours of it being released and did as I usually do and stuck a few bottles of alcohol on to reserve the slot and go and add all the food etc at a leter date..

You tried to beat the system and you were caught out because as you say yourself
"stuck a few bottles of alcohol on to reserve the slot and go and add all the food etc at a later date".
they may have seen a pattern with your orders and decided not to let you get away with it.
Are you really trying to tell us you had no idea what you were going to have for xmas dinner ?

Surely everyone does this? I assess my needs much nearer to the time of delivery. and reserve the slot with a nominal amount of items.

Can't say I've ever done that and I've been shopping online for 3 years!

I fully expect my delivery to be cancelled as we are off a main road via another low used road and they have to come up a small slope to get to us. The main road is clear, the road to our road was like ice at the weekend and we have had more snow.

I tend to say no to substitutions on most items as I may well be sent something I don't really want, I am also fully expecting lots of unavailable if they do manage to deliver. We have had lots of bad weather, deliveries have been hampered and panic shopping with in the store has bound to have affected stock.

I am fully expecting to have to go shopping tomorrow night as I doubt my delivery will turn up but it will be a pleasant surprise if they are able to deliver the bulk of my order to me.

I have used internet shopping since it was rolled out in my area about 6 years ago, or more, (from memory), and I have always done that at Xmas, and so my my friends.

theres a huge difference between what the op has done and making a shopping list and altering it later .

Yes you are right and we should have a rough idea of what we might need in advance. I can only assume her order is not amendable as it was only for three items.
