feel free to correct me IF im wrong but im not aware of asda having expandable vans ! the can only deliver a certain amount and if they plan their deliverys and only expect to deliver 1 bag of goods and then suddenly its 10 + how do you think thats going to work ? i dont see this is asdas fault just bad planning by the op.
I often do this..throughout the year if I want to grab a particular slot but perhaps don't have the time there & then to do a full stock take, menu plan & shop. Also to check if vouchers work, for example, if I was testing a £9 off £90 voucher I will fill my basket with a few bottles of champers rather than spend time doing a shop to the value of £90.:)
I stayed up until after midnight to grab a Christmas Eve slot. I had a few things in my basket already so just checked out with these. By the time I had checked out all the slots had gone.
As previously mentionned, Tesco's for one don't look at the orders until the day of delivery so the question of 'expandable vans' doesn't really come into it. I should imagine the years of experience they have will tell them how many orders they can allocate to a particular slot..probably having fewer available over Christmas if the average order tends to be larger.0 -

You are wrong,;) the picking and assembling of orders is only done on the day of delivery. Therefore, there is a tolerance built into the system for size of order, this is increased at busy periods.
The OP is following accepted practice, which is why you have a cut off time for amendments. Provided the minimum order is met and the cut off time adhered to there should be no issue.
It is clearly Asda and not the Op who is at fault here if the scenario is as the OP described.0 -
i've got an asda order booked for 12pm-2pm today for £200 worth and i just rang to query it and they are running about 6 hours behind am told:eek:.
i asked if OH could go collect it later a swe are only 10 mins away from store and they said tomorrow. no good, hes in work tomorrow.
if i dont get it before midnight today i will get it tomorrow they say. it is pretty bad where we live with the snow but to not even have picked the order yet?Shine on you crazy diamond..............0 -
I booked my slot weeks ago, have been amending it every couple of days since as and when I've remembered items. Van turned up this evening during the allocated time slot but am missing 17 items, including such "obscure" items as Milk, potatoes, apples, bread, and yogurts!! When questioned with the driver, was told most deliveries had at least 2 bags of shopping missing as the shopping team had been told to cut them down to fit in the vans!!
I now have to go to Tesco tomorrow to buy the items they haven't delivered. Annoyed is not the word!0 -
I had an Asda order booked for Thursday & a Tesco one booked for today as I wasnt sure what I was going to use. My Asda slot was reserved with some bottles of wine & amended several times before eventually cancelling it & sticking with Tesco (which I was amending up til 11:30pm last nigh), who turned up half an hour into the slot with every single item barring a red tablecloth. Dont use Tesco they cancelled 127 deliveries yesterday in my area.....yet their vans were speeding past the houses they cancelled. I think they overbooked.
How on earth do you know that? Were you standing outside each house to see if a Tesco van drove past?COMP WINS FOR HUBBY & I SINCE SEPTEMBER:2 £50 DOMINOS VOUCHERS, 13 PAIRS OF FOOTBALL TICKETS, MICROSOFT HOME EDTN, 2 PAIRS OF ALTON TOWERS TICKETS, 1 CASE OF PERCY PIGS, 1 PAIR OF LEATHER LADIES GLOVES, 4 COLLECTION 2000 PRODUCTS, PLAYSTATION 3 WITH FIFA 12, 5* HOTEL STAY IN LONDON, SEASON 6 OF SUPERNATURAL DVD, PERFECT PIZZA VOUCHER0 -
Just had a call from Tesco - I live 5 mins from my local store, but I can either cancel my order, or collect it from their 'super store'. It took me 50 mins one way to get to the other store yesterday.
Well if thats the store your order comes from (mine comes from a store further than my nearest one too), surely you can understand why THEY cant deliver to you?COMP WINS FOR HUBBY & I SINCE SEPTEMBER:2 £50 DOMINOS VOUCHERS, 13 PAIRS OF FOOTBALL TICKETS, MICROSOFT HOME EDTN, 2 PAIRS OF ALTON TOWERS TICKETS, 1 CASE OF PERCY PIGS, 1 PAIR OF LEATHER LADIES GLOVES, 4 COLLECTION 2000 PRODUCTS, PLAYSTATION 3 WITH FIFA 12, 5* HOTEL STAY IN LONDON, SEASON 6 OF SUPERNATURAL DVD, PERFECT PIZZA VOUCHER0 -
Sometimes the Asda site can be a 'glitchy' - try deleting your cookies and see if that helps (I have to do this on a regular basis if I want to shop on-line with Asda).
For the record, I did exactly what the OP did - booked my slot for the 22nd by ordering a couple of bottles of booze then over the weekend I sat down and did my full order - which I ammended last night. Whether or not it actually turns up is in the lap of the gods as none of the main roads around here have been gritted.Don't judge people on they way they look, the way they speak or what they're called because they can't help that.
Only judge people on what they say and what they do.0 -

I know that because I was out on the roads and saw Tesco vans going past the houses of friends who had told me their orders had been cancelled.;)0
