Just had a call from Tesco - I live 5 mins from my local store, but I can either cancel my order, or collect it from their 'super store'. It took me 50 mins one way to get to the other store yesterday.
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.

That would work for me if they can't deliver mine tomorrow as my husband would could pick it up on the way home from work. We would have to go out shopping when he got home anyway if the delivery didn't turn up.

My Tesco are no allowing collections, as they cannot pick the items due to staff shortages and have nowhere to store goods awaiting collection. In a superstore?

theres a huge difference between what the op has done and making a shopping list and altering it later .
i ordered what i thought id need and ammended it last night with no problems and its been delivered bang on time - thank you asda for a stress free shopping experience .

There is no difference as long as the minimum order is met. If the facility for amendment is there it is immaterial what the original order contained. My first draft xmas order only had a turkey, sprouts and fresh veg on it, now it totals £200.

This is accepted practice, and actually amendments are encouraged by the stores which is why they allow it up to midnight the day before picking, it obviously increases their revenue if you add other items.
  • dont use tesco i had my order cancelled for my big christmas shop on sat so had to go and get it after work on sun checked my bank balance today and tesco have taken the money for the order i phoned tescos and they said its just the way they prosses the orders and money will be back in five workin days you can emagine how anoyed i was i should of been told that when they cancel orders i could of been left over drawn so beware of tescos

I did as the op did but with tesco, i only had a turkey in my basket just to secure the delievery and today i have been and added £200 plus to make my order and do it this way every year and have never had a problem!! I would be annoyed like the op if I wasnt allowed to amend my order, 3 weeks ago i was busy making costumes for school plays etc and didnt have time to make a full order.

    I don't know, were you?

Oh, I see, it's a statement, not a question, you are just one of those infuriating types that adds unnecessary question marks to the end of what they say.

feel free to correct me IF im wrong but im not aware of asda having expandable vans ! the can only deliver a certain amount and if they plan their deliverys and only expect to deliver 1 bag of goods and then suddenly its 10 + how do you think thats going to work ? i dont see this is asdas fault just bad planning by the op.

You are right, but what if you look at it the other way?

They have X amount of delivery slots, but they never know if each person who books one will order one bag of shopping or 10, or even 100.

They may not have expandable vans, but they must have a procedure for when too many people order too many items and they all can't fit into the van. Leave one customers shopping behind and deliver it on the next run, or squeeze one customers shopping onto an earlier run?
