Bluetooth Headset - Bargain !!

  • Received mine today - only tested one so far but same problem as described above (seems to be charging, will pair while "Live" but dead as soon as disconnected from mains - ie useless for purpose).

My suspicion is that as they are old stock they have been hanging around somewhere long enough uncharged that their batteries have given up - "Please take to a Siemens Service centre to change the battery" says the manual.

They were sold as new and functional, not as iffy seconds (regardless of the whole "three for two" bobbins), so I'm dropping Benq Siemens' reseller (dataselect) a polite line... I'd bought two of them as Xmas presents - they'll look a bit iffy with the packaging open where I've had to check if they work.

Seems really dodgy to me, not even the benq website. normally when entering your card details you get a security picture on the bottom of the screen to let you know the page is encrypted, that site, does not.

Mine is useless too, the green light shows when charging but as soon as it's unplugged the unit is dead.

Thanks to this forum, I bought one of these (no criticism of the forum or of the OP!) - ordered 04/11 (from the Benq-Siemens website), arrived 10/11, which I thought wasn't too bad considering some of the posts here about delays!
I have spent the last day trying to charge it up; at one point last night the LED started to flash red, (this was after following the reset procedure of PTT, Mute and -) and left it connected to the mains via the charger overnight. This morning, still flashing red LED and, when I disconnected and reconnected, it went straight back into the continuous Green LED as described in earlier posts. I went to the Benq-Siemens website and used their contact email form.
If there is a batch of duff headsets from Benq-Siemens, I'm assuming that, under the SAG act, they will have to offer working replacements or refunds? One thing I thought was slightly off is that, although the offer on the website states it's a HHB-610, and the external packaging states ditto, the headset itself is marked as being a HHB-600, and the instruction manual states that it will register to a 'phone as a HHB-600 (which it did on my Nokia 6310i, though only when connected to the mains) - I don't know what the difference is between the 600 and the 610 - perhaps the 610 charges?

  • Nothing to add here except mine too is a dead duck, and have sent an e-mail form, which may not get an early reply judging by the number of faulty units (doh, and I thought it was a bargain).
I didn't do it, nobody saw me do it, you can't prove a thing! ;)

I am shocked that people are having such bad experiences with this headset... very disappointing...

I bought three headsets (yes, and paid for all of them as well) - two duds and one which on testing actually works(!) ... all are stamped on the headset as HHB-600 (so its not just that the HHB-610 charges :) ).

The duds had a green LED illuminated whilst "charging" which went out as soon as they were unplugged - no life when switched on, could only be "paired" whilst plugged in - this seems to tally with what the rest of you have experienced.

With the working unit the red LED illuminated when it was plugged in and went green after 2.5 hours of charging as per the manual - it works as advertised and seems to be a very nice, neat unit - so if you plug it in and the LED comes on red, you're likely on to a winner...

I've not used the on-line form to report the probelms - I've gone back to the CS rep that contacted me about my order when they decided not to honour the three for two - it will be interesting to see which gets a swifter response.

    Yup,

Got mine yesterday. Dead as a dodo. Won't charge, won't register.

  • Mine arrived yesterday and is also dead unless powered via the mains charger.

Someone should report these idiots to trading standards for selling off KNOWN dodgy stock. There is no way this many headsets would be wrong without them knowing(2 out of my three were DOA,the other only charged from charger!!)When they listed these they struggled to get enough stock and then(IMO) bought a batch of Returns/faulty headsets to get the orders sent out quicker!!

Still i bet they are not worried as the site has probably made a bit of money over the last few weeks(?)
