Sorry for the confusion.signed for next day delivery. So what good is the RM Track & Trace system if you can't trace a letter going through the system?

Again, a letter that's just called a "signed for" is only a recorded delivery, this is not a tracked letter, it's only tracked when a delivery attempt has been made.

A next day is a special delivery and is tracked at every point along the way.

Would it be possible to post the first 2 letters of your tracking number so we can see what it exactly is? I would find it remarkable if there is no tracking available for a special delivery. Although, again, the public don't see the full tracking like we do in the intranet.

Most if not all of our special deliveries are going out on a daily basis, with exception of rural deliveries which are down farm tracks which are purely inaccessible, although they may be later than the 1pm stated, as the 1pm guarantee has been scrapped for the time being.

The pay is/was on time, but our wageslips were late arriving. I can't see that making much difference as long as the money is there, but a lot of my colleagues complain about them not arriving on time :(

My pay wasn't on time. They *forgot* to increase us to full time instead of our usual part time. *sigh* so now we're working the extra and won't get a chance to spend it for xmas. Totally sux! As for wage slips..... No receiving very few of those too.

Forever.Insane - Maybe it would be a better idea to call your local delivery office first and see what plans are in place. We were giving out customers mail in the 2 days that we were snowed in, but always a better idea to call ahead first as it could be that they are doing partial deliveries, and might have ure street out with them on the day you go to collect it. Hope that helps.

Am I right in thinking Royal Mail are doing extra deliveries tonight? I'm sure that's what I heard but can't see it anywhere.

Not seen any posties around here at all today, and I have spent most the day looking at the window waiting for them.

Its on their site. I don't think I will be getting any because we didn't get any snow settling (fully) the past week. Just a little ice.
Royal Mail has announced up to 14,000 extra delivery rounds across the UK, weather permitting, over the next four evenings.
Deliveries are planned for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evening.
Around two million homes are expected to receive an evening delivery this week.
Royal Mail expects to have carried out around 25,000 extra rounds by Christmas.
This delivery programme follows the £20 million investment in additional measures to deal with what is already the most severe December weather in almost 30 years

Mark Higson, Managing Director of Royal Mail, said: “We are planning up to a total of 14,000 – weather permitting - additional delivery rounds on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evening. We have had postmen and women on the streets for the last two Sundays in a row. Royal Mail is committed to doing everything possible to deliver letters, cards and parcels on behalf of its customers.”

Royal Mail is planning evening deliveries to around two million homes in total across the UK this week. This is in addition to the normal Royal Mail deliveries during the day. The authorities are doing all they can to keep major roads clear but major routes, together with rail and air services across the UK, have been significantly impacted by heavy snowfalls in the last few days. This disruption has had an impact on Royal Mail, along with many other delivery providers but remains committed to delivering on behalf of its customers and that is why these extra deliveries have been put in place.

Up to 14,000 additional delivery rounds in total will be carried out Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evening to deliver as many items as possible to people in their homes. The cold spell is already considered the worst to hit the UK in December for almost 30 years (source: Met Office).

After the evening deliveries planned for this week, Royal Mail expects its people will have carried out around 25,000 extra delivery rounds by the time Christmas arrives.

The additional rounds by postmen and women, expected to serve around two million homes in total, will help:
Deliver packets and letters to those areas that have already been affected by the worst December weather in almost 30 years as quickly as possible, particularly the North East and South East of England and parts of Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Give consumers in less impacted areas a second chance to receive items at their home if they were not in when delivery was first attempted.
Thought for the day: each generation of mankind tends to hug the illusion of having reached the culmination of human achievement. Yet, as we scoff at our groping ancestors, so our descendants will surely scoff at us.

Even without the backlog our guys have gone out in the evening to clear the office of packets in the evenings and on sundays. Just more of them doing it this year :)

My OH has been quite ill recently, though thankfully recovering well now, unknown to us one of her friends sent her flowers, they were sent on the 13th of this month by royal mail, yesterday one box of dead flowers arrived even though the box was labelled urgent delivery fresh flowers, thank you royal mail.
  • I find it strange that the milkman can deliver my milk everyday with no problem. Yet the Post office can only manage to deliver mail twice in a week in Milton Keynes. As for getting parcels I have not seen a Royal mail van in our street since last thursday. I still waiting for lots of parcels from early december. As for Royal mail stating on thier website that we will be carrying out evening delivelies thats a con not one in my area!
  • I went to the local sorting office on Monday to collect my mail and asked about the deliveries and was told that due to Health and Safety rules they were not allowed out to deliver.

What puzzles me is that on Tuesday they were out delivering letters even though the streets were no better than they were the day before, if anything conditions were worse as the snow was compacted and frozen.

Good job I have a cold and couldn't smell the bull**** at the sorting office.
