We've gone quite a few days without post this snow period and back in January.
We just took proof of residency to our local sorting office and picked up a huge bundle each time.
I know we pay the RM for a service but give them a chance, think they do a great job.
Don't get me started on the couriers!!0 -
I'm a postie and we would love to go and deliver to every house so everyone gets their mail and parcels but this year health and safety has gone mad!!
It used to be deliver at all costs! now it's deliver at no cost! If we fall while out it's investigated "why did we go up the path if it was icy?" If we bang the van on ice it's our fault no matter what the circumstances. We have been told if unsafe don't go, if you do and you fall or crash it's your fault!! So please get off our backs and onto the powers that be, the majority of us posties love our job and usually go that extra mile for you. I've just finished a 14hr day in -9c what should have been an 8hr day in 1-2c i don't look thanks it's my job but a bit of respect wouldn't go amiss.
Happy Christmas and i hope it goes all arrive by the big day.0 -
I have been told that postmen/women were sent home saturday because of the snow, this isn't a vent as such but why on earth would they be sent home? Also as of yet i still haven't seen any deliveries today.
We only have about 2 inches here, and are getting very little post.
Milkman, paper boys, other deliveries are all coping- except for the post office.
Last time, we didn't get any post at all for a week.

You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.

As i see it they are paid to do a job and if they can't do it then get someone who can, my postman lives in the flats opposite my house and the sorting office where the post comes from is around 150 yards from where i live..so i cannot see or believe any of the excuses i have heard. I do understand the roads are treacherous and everything else but when i see deliveries of bread to supermarkets i dont believe the humble postie can be immune to critisism.
Does the lorry driver deliver each loaf individually to peoples houses or drop 10,000 loaves off at once to the supermarket?Apples and oranges.0 -
Finally got a delivery today, the postie said there is a backlog of letters and parcels and they were late in getting their pay as well.0

The posties were out on sunday here, when it was REALLY bad snow, like it just came on, was almost like a blizzard. We had post yesterday at like 2pm, but none yet today0

Letters seem to be dribbiling through but had 7 packets today so getting there I think!0

Whilst the Royal Mail van deliveries have been a bit erratic (or often non-existent) over the snowy weather, our on-foot posties have done an amazing job. One of them in particular has arrived, smiling and friendly, every single day - even when the road on the housing estate was lethally bad with compacted ice. We don't usually give Christmas boxes to them, but they've certainly earned the one we'll be giving them this year. I also keep meaning to ask him his shoe size so I can buy him some of those Yaktrax, bless him!0

We have a lovely postman here too! He is always happy and delivers regularly in his shorts! I did ask one time if he was cold but he said he was used to it! Lol! I told him about a parcel i've been waiting on since the 30th Nov which the sorting office seem to misplace and today he came out of his way to deliver it! He had already delivered his usual round this morning! :T I already had a box of chocs wrapped up for him for his next delivery but DD gave it to him as he left.0
