I heard a post office rep saying that last week they had over 1000 injuries and 50 posties with broken bones. We had a delivery yesterday, which I think is quite common the week before Christmas, but none today. I think every area will be different according to conditions. I'm in Sussex.0

You should be OK:
http://www.taxdisc.direct.gov.uk/EvlPortalApp/application?origin=vnav_bar.jsp&event=bea.portal.framework.internal.refresh&pageid=Common+Questions#QUESTION_9I have not received the tax disc. Can I use the vehicle without the tax disc displayed?
When you apply for a tax disc online or by using our phone service you are able to legally continue to drive your vehicle for up to 5 days after the tax disc has expired while you wait for the new tax disc to arrive. This will only apply when you have applied for a new tax disc before the current one expires. You should continue to display the expired disc on your vehicle, until the new one arrives.0 -
I have had my newspaper delivered and the snow is still here and my paperboy doesn't moan or get sent home, so why should postman/woman be sent home, if a 14 yo can do it why not a 40 odd year old? just a thought really.0

Are you for real?
Your paperboy carry's what..say 50 papers that will take him what say an hour and a half at most to deliver, and probably lives locally.
Many posties now live milles away from the delivery they do and in this weather is a job in itself just to get to the first delivery point, indeed many have a job even getting into their work depots, when half the country isn't able to get to work etc you expect them to get to you and then and here's the thing to walk around for 4 hours in -10 degrees weather on paths that havn't been gritted armed with a pair of !!!!!! Magnum shoes or boots as Royal Fail can't be arsed issuing snow chains(well they do in our office....IF YOUR A SIZE 3-5:mad:and to do 6 to 8 bags of mail weighing a ton as all the people moaning and whinging about Posties not being able to deliver to their houses sit on the !!! in a nice warm house ordering loads of crap off the t'internet as THEY CAN'T GET INTO TOWN TO SHOP."Life is short even in its longest days".0 -

Think it might take him a little longer than that tbh, after all, look at the lovelly snow he has to play with and throw and build things with on the way!
Last week my neighbours and I were all out, wrapped up to the nines (is that the right term?) gloves, coat scarves, the whole kit and kaboodle digging a path for each others cars to get out, clearing paths for the elderly residents, spreading some salt on the paths, etc when along came our postie, marching up the hill, bag over his shoulder IN A PAIR OF SHORTS!!!!!!
Good on him though, our post is slightly delayed, but he does all he can to get to us as often as possible (our local council seems to forget we exist when it snows and all our incoming lanes end up un-passable)Wins 2015:-

As i see it they are paid to do a job and if they can't do it then get someone who can, my postman lives in the flats opposite my house and the sorting office where the post comes from is around 150 yards from where i live..so i cannot see or believe any of the excuses i have heard. I do understand the roads are treacherous and everything else but when i see deliveries of bread to supermarkets i dont believe the humble postie can be immune to critisism.0 -
The only excuse I can think of is southern softies
We have had post every day without fail, maybe a bit late due to dragging her bike through the foot of snow but otherwise no problems. :T 0 -

Have you thought maybe that your postie may have been reassigned to cover those who are ill/injured/snowed in and is therefore not able to do your round? Posties have very little say in matters. The ever-so-wise managers who often have never delivered in their lives may have come up with a hare-brained winter scheme. The man without a signature.0 -

True, just really stupid in my opinion, i ain't really frustrated with the service and i can understand the lateness or none delivery.0 -
