Having a severe attack of CBA... came home this afternoon as I was tired and thought I'd have a bit of time to myself and do some more garden planning but haven't acheived anything apart from lighting the fire and starting to warm the house up! Oh... and rehydrating... I never seem to drink enough water in other people's houses!
Had a nice walk in the snow - not really long enough for me, but probably for my SIL (doesn't do long walks), parents (a bit unsteady in the snow) and nephew (he was starting to wake up and want food!). The dog and possibly my brother would have liked a longer walk...
Lots of leftovers - wild goose casserole, ham and turkey - brought back with me. I've got a pint of double cream and a pint of single to use up, so I need ideas (think it might be icecream, I'm pretty sure I have some fruit puree somewhere, so if I can dig out the ice cream maker I could give it a go). Need to make sure I have some decent walks over the next few days too, even though the dog isn't here.0 -
Scary stuff Mumof2 - glad the dog and DH were OK. Everytime DD takes BB over the other park (I take BB to the park at the bottom of the garden which has no water features in it) at the moment, I nag and nag her not to let BB near the pond as it's all frozen over. I think the message has sunk in. BB is a Springer Spaniel and this sad, sad news story about a police sniffer dog falling through the ice really upset me last week...I am the leading lady in the movie of my life

Mumof2 - Oh my that is terrifying. So glad you all got home in one piece. Tip for next time - walk where there is no water please.
We had a walk round the rec. Very cold and slippery. DD2 got tired very quickly so we were only out for 25 mins. DH bought a bottle of port on the way back and it warmed me up nicely when we got home.
No pain relief today so i'm now going to self medicate with a glass or 3 of wine. Cheers!0 -
Yep, we'll be keeping away from the water with Pip. Soappie, that's an awful story about the springer.
Trying in vain to get the kids up to bed; they're sat by the woodburner - DS has been playing with his crane and DD, well I don't really know what she's doing but she's having a nice time!
Looking forward to curling up by the fire with my knitting. AF not been kind to me so want to just chill .... maybe with a sherry and my trufflesFlymarkeeteer: £168 and counting0 -
Happy Birthday Piggers...
I went to sisters (in Derby) and we stayed over...and as I was packing the car to come home I locked the car key IN THERE.
Yes I have a spare...it was in valliland so BIL took me (sis made me go with him since it was my idiocy - fair enough) to rendevouz with mum and dad who had collected my spare - we met not all that far from where AnWs does the paid thing, anyhoo, BIl has a problem with his car - it won't run if fuel is low (not out, just low) and tesco at Alfreton doesn't have fuel...and we hoped to make it to Markeaton but failed so he had to call his employee (and all round knight in armour) who brought us fuel...
came home without having had my annual Boxing day Shower at my sisters because I have my very own shower now...so I'm showered
And the glass I raised to my flylady friends was champagne - I told my other sister about you - hope you don't mind!
I've ironed yesterday's washing;)
Now planning a 'recreational' visit..*wrinkle wrinkle* at Piggers;)Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Goodness me mumof2 what a scary thing to have happened. Hope you're all calmed down now.
soappie Such a sad piece about the springer. Goodness only knows how his handler must be feeling.
It's snowing again here, and I must devote some time tomorrow to getting the curtains finished for my den because the draught is keen.
Spent some time today going through my spreadsheets and budgets. I will always be grateful to my darling sister for a. encouraging me to learn to type properly b. showing me how to use spreadsheets and c. introducing me to flylady, (albeit the US site) as all of the above have been so helpful in encouraging me to take responsibility for my life. Also been wandering around some other MSE threads on old style and am going to try to incorporate them into my day. It's all a work in progress reallySaving up £25000/£3500 by Jan 1st 2012 by selling my clutter. Remember I'm doing it for Dad.
Textiles, languages, travel and a lovely home are not stupid things to want. You have immediate family's support.Appreciate what I've achieved so far. Other people's opinion of me is none of my business.0 -
Been playing Just Dance on the Wii with the kids - my arms are aching off now!

I've just spent the past hour+ organising my emails. I had emails going back to 2006 which were for purchases I no longer have or were given as gifts
Even after dealing with 400+ I still another 300+ to sort out but my eyes were going gozzy so I'm having a mooch around here while waiting for the new thread
Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0
