Afternoon all,
Well we are off to M&D's again at around 5pm (we wanted the day to ourselves to do with it what we wished, instead of sitting over there twiddling our thumbs). Moon and I went into town this morning, but all of the furniture shops were closed, so no luck there. We did go to starbucks afterwards though, and I had a free coffee using a voucher they'd sent me, and Moon even got a size upgrade cos they got is wrong :T. Also saw a very strange family in there all plugged into various iphones etc(lovely to see you all again LadyL :hello:).
After town, we went into MrT to see what bargains we could find for new year food as we're having a family of four coming over and my M&D (got a couple of reduced luxury meat pizzas for everyone who eats meat - that'll be everyone apart from me then), a seasonal veg pack with which I'll make some soup tomorrow for my lunches, reduced sandwiches for Moon's lunch today, as well as some packs of nice Christmas cards for next year (got a big pack in case I have a class next Christmas too). There were a lot of bare shelves in their ordinary food sections though today, but I've planned all of our meals for the next week, so we have everything in apart from some nibbles and veggie pizzas for NYE. Will be popping over to MrL tomorrow anyway as they've got some nice crafting bits and pieces in which I want to get, and they usually have lots of snacky things too (Mr T didn't have much left).
Have planned our meals this week to create more room in the freezer for the pizza boxes, and have just used up a ciabatta (that had been frozen in there since the end of May) with some soup for my lunch.
Have been sitting here looking through cookery books (including a new Good Housekeeping Cookbook Bible that my sister gave me for Christmas) to see if there are any nice simple nibbles I could make myself, but they all seem to have expensive ingredients or just be cheese in various forms. It looks like buying ready-made ones will be cheaper anyway, and as Moon is going to be working NYE, it'll be less stressful for me to prepare too.
Well I'm off to make a last cuppa before we head out (Moon is outside chopping up wood at the moment so will need to warm up).
Enjoy the rest of your days.

Had a v. quiet day - bit of tidying up this morning. All the stuff from yesterday's dinner is now properly put away - including the table cloth and napkins which were washing and dried first. Since then I've been researching and writing - it's far too cold to go out anywhere!
Was thrilled this afternoon to find today was the first three egg day - two first thing this morning and the third about 3pmIf this keeps up I shall have enough to flog off in a couple of days!
DD has gone to her bloke's place for the night so it's just me and the animals home alone. It'll be pickings for tea I think...I am the leading lady in the movie of my life

Evening all
Happy Birthday Pigpen
I've kept things pretty tidy (only by following everyone round and picking things up and doing constant relays of washing up!). Did some washing today, none yesterday so I had to catch up a bit. I've vacuumed yesterday and today.
On my own now overnight. DH gone to look after DD1's dog but he'll be back tomorrow, just staying there each night. DS and DiL gone to her parents, DD2 gone home. Good job I've got the cats to stop it being too quiet.
Going to catch up on here and then watch Countryfile.0 -
Oh what a fun walk we had - very treacherous and icy (saw 3 people fall over on the bit we had to go back down later), DD fell 3 times, DS fell about 6 times and even DH fell over - luckily somehow I managed to stay on my feet (DH helped me and the kids down the bit the others had fallen over on).
Anyhow, we had a real scare as our dog is as daft as you like. Last time we went to the park she ran on the frozen river before we could stop her and went under and she did the same again. We were watching her constantly but only a few 100 metres from the end DH and DS were ahead of me and DD, I heard DH call Pip and then heard a crashing sound. Pip, bless her, had found some ducks and wanted to 'play', chased them, turned around and fell back through the ice. Where DH was was 1 foot deep and fairly strong so he lay down on the ice and reached out for Pip, I held onto him with the dogs lead and somehow he managed to grab hold of where Pip was (which was much deeper) just as the ice cracked. It was horrible.
So we got home, DH changed, I blow dried Pip and she is wrapped in a knitted blanket looking rather sorry for herself. If it had have happened further down the river DH would not have risked lying on the ice as it's very deep so it could have been a horrible story.
Anyhow, all's well that ends well. I hope you've all had a good time today and Pigpen that you've enjoyed your birthday xxFlymarkeeteer: £168 and counting0
