You could always fit some of these:

Do they stock them in Kwik-Fit?

I'm a bit short of cash at the moment so I might just fit them to the front of the car for the moment. :)

I don't go out in it at all. I told my husband not to buy one as my sister has a Merc and her ABS comes on if it's been raining! RWD and automatic doesn't make a good combination. The bloke in his BMW across the road doesn't attempt it either.

When we first got ours we had to suffer the indignity of sliding back down a brae, while an old banger overtook us with no effort. :o

Our Audi was an automatic and I never had a problem with her though.

Yeah, I was in the Merc Sprinter today when I got stuck, after deflating the tyres I had to put my cargo weight over the rear wheels - it all helps.

    What's a 'brae' btw?

Oh my word, no wonder people talk about BMW drivers. 1 Series drivers redeem yourself!

"Four out of five BMW 1-series drivers think their car is front-wheel drive, according to the firm’s CEO Norbert Reithofer."

Is now a bad time to say I've done that.

But I ran faster than she did, and it wasn't in a built up area with walls nearby.

Yet the Germans manage just fine in their BMWs at this time of year?

Ken Block's a nutter. He's been on Top Gear I think, for setting some stupidly dangerous world record or something...

Funny how we all used to manage in RWD cars before FWD became prevalent. I've driven Capris, Chevettes, Marinas, Escorts etc in the snow and they were all RWD and still managed to keep going/

Part of the problem with modern ones is they have so many electronic aids and perople forget, or don't realise, that sometimes it's better to turn them off. A couple of bags of sand in the boot can help a RWD drive car too.
It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die

The reason your old cars kept going is because they were on skinny tyres.

Most of the cars mentioned here (BMW, Merc, etc) have 225 or similar tyres, unless they're a winter compound they're going nowhere.
